My husband just left for RTC, and my heart literally is hurting. I can't stop crying...does it get easier. How often can he call? I am so new to this...hopefully once I get in a routine it gets easier?

You will get used to the new normal and once you have the PIR date and can begin making plans it will help. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC, Ship/Division--How it Works, Phone Cards and Phone Calls, and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

It does get a bit better but I will not kid you.....still difficult.  We are two weeks today since our son left for Boot Camp.  Cannot wait for that "form letter".....as for phone calls.  I am also anxious to hear the answer to your question.  To hear his voice will be an incredible moment!

There is no set number of calls and there is no set day to receive calls. Don't expect a call, but have your phone available every day between 8am and 8 pm Central Time and be pleasantly surprised if you get a call. See the info in the Phone Cards and Phone Calls Page above for more on that and for times you can relax and know that you most likely will not miss a call.
