For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

P-Days "Moment of Truth" Questions

I read from one recruit's experience that while in P-Days, there's a phrase called "moment of truth". The Cheifs or POs begin asking questions again-see if you've lied on any questions you were asked. Recruit said he was told to stand to answer his questions (by the interviewer).

But recruit said DO NOT STAND UP when answering any question because you're admitting to have been/are lying to their questions and BE SENT HOME ON THE SPOT. Then, he was asked if he's homesick. He answered NO, even though he was homesick because again he'd BE SENT HOME ON THE SPOT.

Has this experience happened to anyone's new recruit? The recruit is being told to do certain things here but not told he/s will be sent home if they stand up or say yes.

Comment by lemonelephant on June 19, 2014 at 4:46pm: Yes, there is a Moment of Truth at BC. It is the opportunity to come clean about anything that the recruit did not include in his/her paperwork prior to enlistment. The recruit may spend extra time in P-days while the information is addressed or the recruit may be sent to SEPS (Ship 5) and then sent home to attempt to get a waiver if one is needed. Some recruits will be disqualified for enlistment based on what they reveal.

Don't borrow trouble. What one recruit experienced may not be the experience of all. No, as said above, not every recruit will be sent home for admitting that s/he omitted something prior to BC, but yes, some will.

Comment by lemonelephant on June 19, 2014 at 5:09pm: Since your son, not even a future Sailor at this point, has not completed his paperwork yet, it is best that he disclose everything from the beginning and then get any waivers, if needed, and then there will not be a problem. If his recruiter indicates that he should not disclose something, then your son should say, "I respectfully request that the information be included. I am aware that a waiver may be needed." That way he will never have to worry about The Moment of Truth or information coming up later that would result in a discharge due to fraudulent enlistment if he did make it through BC and into the fleet.
