1/26/15 As I miss my boy each day (its only been 6 days today)  I took refuge on N4M only to feel so overwhelmed by it all.  Its a great thing to have this site but there's so much info and so many groups the only consolation I have is seeing all the other mom's who are missing their sons/daughters too:)

I am not sure what to do next. I don't know his PIR (oh and all the acronyms I'm on information overload) I've already sent 5 letters as I did get his correct address from our recruiter.  I joined 2 groups and now my email is blowing up with even more info - so many links.... i don't know which direction to turn. Hopefully I will learn to better navigate this site as the  days go on and before PIR:)

This Thursday is my enlisted birthday - its so hard to be away from him  but if it can even be harder it will be then.

Yes, there is A LOT of info, but just take a few things a day and then bookmark what you will need later and go back to those when you need them. I put info in the Pages in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) pretty much in the order that you will need them and you can choose what Discussions, Blogs, and Groups to comment on.

How do you know the address is correct? Sometimes things change, but, yes, most of the time the recruiter will have the correct address (or the correct address with extra info). Wait on the form letter before sending additional mail. What Ship and Division did the recruiter give you?

You can reduce email by clicking on "Stop Following" after you post in a group. Then just click on the Groups tab and then "My Groups" and check to see if there has been any activity since you last visited. You can also control the emails you get by clicking on Settings in the upper left and then Email in the middle under "My Settings" and then choosing what emails you want to receive.

Check your My Page.

My daughter left 1-19, we got her box 1-22 and her form letter 1-23. I have learned so much from this page. She's ship 12 Div 109 PIR 3-13. I read this page 10x a day, it's my stress reliever.

Hi

I just wanted to share that I know what you are going through.  My son left for boot camp exactly one year yesterday, and it was a very, very emotional thing to experience.  The feeling of missing your child, the worry about everything, it consumes our minds so much.  I admit I was a different person the first few weeks after he left.  Then there's the big 'highs' that come with it too (ex. when u get the 1st phone call, or 1st letter, etc.).  N4M helped me so much.  Joining the Boot Camp Moms group was kind of theraputic because you can share with other moms who are going thru the same thing.  I had tears and smiles when I read the stories, and received reply's to what I shared.  It all does take time, so we are tested with being patient.  You'll hear from you child soon, and he's for sure missing you too.  Stay strong, be patient, and continue to share.  When you receive his form letter which will have his correct address, start writing them letters. I wrote to my son everyday, sometimes 2x's a day LOL.  Towards the end of his boot camp training, he had to mail back home a box of letters he'd received that was filled with letters from me and all his relatives.  I hope what I've shared helps.  Take care :).

Navajosunshine39 - Thanks you so much for validating my crazy emotions and making me feel normal - not like I'm going crazy. I never really appreciated what Military families go through and all the sacrifices they make until I joined this big wonderful amazing FAMILY.  i am honored to be a part of it and very thankful for the support system :)

Something I realized too, after he left for bootcamp, was I think it was a little difficult because as mom's we are so used to knowing what our kids are doing. We can't call the, text them, instagram them, FB them....it's like almost complete silence for those couple/few weeks. Then the written letters take the place of the calls & texts.  I'm not a big fan of the Post Office - I only go to check my mail once or twice a week! But during that bootcamp time, the Post Office became my best place to be. I'd get his letter and I'm practically running back to my car to read. I'll be sitting there reading, and I'd be laughing, and/or crying, and my imagination would take off from his description of what they'd be doing.

So if you haven't joined the Boot Camp Mom's group yet, please do. And there should be a place in that group where it'll take you to your son's PIR grad date, and some other helpful areas to check out :).

Hope you have a great Wednesday!!
