Hello everyone! I am new to this and I don't know where to start.  My sailor graduates May 8,2015 and I ave no idea where to go or what is needed for the trip. Do I take the cell phone or will I have to mail it once my sailor starts A school?? How much time do we have with our kids? Do they leave shortly after they graduate?

PIR is soon approaching for you!

Def. start by making your travel arrangements and booking a hotel room!!
If you are interested in attending the meet and greet the night before PIR, then you will have to consider taking an early morning Thursday flight in to Chicago or if you can arrive on WEdnesday.
There are 2 airports in Chicago. So look into flights to Ohare and MIdway to see which is more affordable for you.
YOu can bring your son's cell phone and charger, laptop, personal items such as undergarments that he prefers and some civilian clothes...his fave jeans and shirts. When my daughter graduated a brought several of her clothes and let her pick and choose what she wanted.
If you sailor is staying in GL for A school, then you will have the whole weekend to spend with him, however he can not stay overnight with you. the sailors have curfew and have to report back each night. If you Sailor is going away for A school, most likely he will leave on an early Saturday morning flight and you will be able to see/meet him at the airport and also obtain a gate pass.

join the PIR group ASAP so that you can read up on lots of good stuff!!
