So I have never blogged before but thought I would start....trying to figure out ways to connect with my son who is at RTC. When I say connect I don't mean literally, I mean when he can't write. So I have taken on my own style "bootcamp". I run, bike, do pushups (YES!!! modified), sit up (every inch off the ground is a plus) anything physical everyday. This is when I connect with my son. I mentally send him positive thoughts, tons of love and as I have written I invoke whatever higher entity is out there to watch over him, guard and give him strength. Then I ask for a little for myself as well so that I can be there and do what needs to be done to support him. This includes taking care of myself so I can be all he needs me to be. I kind of like to consider myself his basecamp, whether it's a card or gift he can't get, or a letter to a friend, or to him...can't do that if we aren't on top of our game. So I would love to hear from others who have strategies in place to support themselves and their loved ones in the Navy..

I have been doing a similar thing while my boyfriend is in bootcamp. I do more intense workouts then I would normally do! plus it helps pass the time! 44 more days!!

My son has two weeks and a couple days left...I need to do something like this...walk, sit ups, push ups...intentions have not yet worked into actions:-(
I too am in New England, north central Connecticut. I saw my first hummingbird last Saturday. Next day a second male. Today I saw my first female. It brings such joy to watch them! Enjoy!

MIchelle0206...congrats on being almost there...to graduation. My suggestions is to just go walk. Make it your time with him. That way when you don't feel like getting up and going you realize it is time with you son, and you don't want to miss that. I also want to look my best when I see him.  My hummingbirds are like little messengers. Last year I had several and one would come and literally hover infront of my face about 4 ft away. They are stopping by to say Hi, thanks for the nector, and maybe "do you recognize me?".  I am just north of Springfield and would be happy to find you for coffee, or some motivational "speak"...just friend me. Now just get out there!!!

Hootsmom, i have been walking more, the yorkie likes to come along for encouragement:-)

i should really make it a prayer walk, time away from all distractions dedicated to prayer for their division, (928/ship 2), as they enter some of the greatest challenges and final tests. They really need to work as ONE, each working to the best of their ability...teamwork is so important.

We live in Stafford and i grew up in Spfld. till i was 11. I would be happy to get together for a little mutual encouragement. I did friend you...gotta admit some of this tech stuff is not my strong suit. i am old school:-)

Be strong this day, stay busy, write letters, and find the little blessings in each day.
