Karen1913 - My husband is in South Carolina now, he gets leave tomorrow and will be flying in tomorrow evening to help with the move, and we will be traveling back together Thursday, I can't wait!
Packing is so overwhelming...I've been doing it pretty much by myself. Luckily my mom has been able to come over and help a bit, I would have been lost without her!

I have to post this pic. My Ex Husband and his gf were sitting next to you and your son and daughter at pir. Your children looked soooo adorable. I think your son and my ex made friends.

Hello ladies. We finally got home from GL this past Sundy. Stayed through Tuesday in order to give our sailor his computer, phone, etc. He didn't get over to A school until late in the day so we didn't leave until Wednesday. Stopped a couple of times and didn't get in a hurry. I've been thinking about our remarkable journey with our sailors. Can remember how hard it was to see them leave home and not have any contact for so long and then never really knowing what was going on or how they were faring. Then it seemed like it was over and they had graduated. Here they were - 961 young men and women from all over the country, learning and working together and then, suddenly they are once again scattered all over the country. But - how they have all changed for the good. Every graduate that I met and spoke with were so polite and seemed to be headed in a good direction (not that they weren't polite before but they had a new bearing and attitude. I felt such pride for all of them. You all have the right to feel proud of them and proud of yourselves for the good fondation that you have given them.
Cameowalot - had any new encounters with bears or racoons? You have such good stories about your wildlife.
Honnalora - thank you so much for the prayers and for being the "glue" that has held us all together. My husband and I enjoyed our breakfast with you.
Heleng - nice to have a short chat with you while you were packing to leave and good to meet your sailor - such a nice young man.
Melanie - good to hear that your son has passed his running test and praying for him during BS21. I don't think you have to worry about that part - my son actually enjoyed battlestations and said that it was an awesome experience.
Mom2nw - I don't know anyone at Ft. Leanord Wood but am familiar with the name. My dad worked there during WW2 and my mother and I (at age 2) rode a train there from northern Missouri with a train full or soldiers. As a little blonde girl I was quite the hit with those guys.
Jamielyn - do I understand correctly that you and your husband are now in North Carolina?
Harmony - I so wanted to meet you and see your children but somehow missed you. However, the pictures are great and your children are beautiful. So glad that the ceremony went well. Is you husband in A school in Great Lakes - FC? My son is there as an ET.
JudyProudMom- you and your son are both in my prayers. I know things will work out for him - sometimes it just doesn't work out on the time schedule we want but he will be where he is supposed to be and when. Just hang in there and keep in touch with us.
We had a great visit with out son. Our daughter and her husband and 3 children came from Michigan so we had a mini family reunion. Just wish the rest of the family could have been there. My mother really wanted to come but knew the trip would be too much for her - she is almost 98. Took a jaunt to the aquarium in Chicago - with bumper to bumper traffic- don't really like Chicago. Had a visit to the park and took in a movie. Also several good meals. Funny thing - my son said that one of the best things about liberty was the two-ply toilet paper. (He's spoiled.)
I have talked to Justin several times this week (I don't text). Today he told me that he will have liberty from Dec. 17 to Jan. 2 so we're looking for plane tickets. He hopes to work at the recruiting office while he's home so he doesn't have to use so much liberty time.
One of his friends from DEP is now in bc. She graduates next week so we will get together with her parents this week to give them some pointers. Funny thing, she is in the performing unit so I was sure she would be at the 10/8 PIR and told her and her parents I would keep an eye out for her. When we went in for PIR, my husband stopped to ask where the restrooms were. He went up to a young woman that was passing out programs and asked where the restrooms were located. She answeered " right over there, Norm". My daughter stopped and asked "how does she know your name". He took a second look and sure enough it was Georjean. With the uniform, the hat and the "Navy glasses" he hadn't recognized her. After he told me this, I rushed back and she gave me a hug and said she was so glad to see someone she knew. I quickly snapped a picture of her and e-mailed it to her parents. Probably broke all the Navy rules but it was a special moment for all of us.
My husband and I both caught a cold (I call it the Illinois crud) and can't seem to shake it so I'm not getting back in the swing of things too quickly but it will all be there when I get to it.
Hope you are all having a great day and that you will all keep everyone up to date regarding your sailor's journey through A School, C School and future activities. You have all been special to me and I want to thank each and every one of you for your time and support.
Oh, by the way Jen-Ship10mom - I understand what you're saying about the soft-hearted guys - but then we mothers know that it's going to take a special girl for our special guy. It's hard to step back!
