Some of the holds for C school are so long, they are sending the sailors to their ships first. A new and unusual policy.

Hi AECF families, I get my little man Aidan Friday night we have a date for McDonald's !!! I will miss him if Chrissy takes him to Virginia in Jan. so just gonna not worry about that and try to enjoy my weekend with him. I know very selfish of me Chrissy misses him so much, I just try to stay our of the custody battle and pray for God to do what is best for the Aidan.

PaulaSue, I suspect it's easier for us to say...then for them to hear! They are anxious to find out what's next and where are they heading but I'm sure they never tire of hearing how proud we are of them :-)

ThanksMom -- that is very different for an FC, seldom do they know what ship they are heading to as most of their schools are over six months long but perhaps with the long waits now - some are getting to learn the ship first. He's left GL already??

Oh yay, progress! Sandy, I'm sure he is happy to have ATT behind him but HOH...Hawaii! Congrats, our son is loving it there. It has become quite the beach bum when time allows. We have a couple of great groups here for Hawaii, look for Oahu group for lots of good info or let me know if you have specifics questions.

My son is an ET and in ATT - just started a week or so ago. He is going at night. Says it is kind oif a self-paced class - there are 2 instructors in the class. The work is done individually on the computer but they all work at the same pace and take the tests at the same time. So far he has had 2 tests. He expects to be in ATT until after the first of the year. Supposed to be in A School at GL for 212 days. All in all, sounds like at least a year before C School.

Welcome to our newest member Golden Gator

I find myself struggling to answer what used to be a simple question ... how long is??? Things seem to be changing at bootcamp and it gets garbled with the holds (waiting to start a class) I still tend to say expect to be in GL for a year but I know there are plenty of students that have been there longer so perhaps I will resort to...the pay is the same regardless of what they are doing!

good for him! INDOC is a week long. I got the first word wrong of the A part of ATT. It's Apprentice not advanced- sorry about that! I wrote down from what my son told me that ATT is 89 calendar days. It is a self-paced class done on the computer. It can be finished in less time. And i have 96 calendar days for A school. Please some one correct me if that's wrong- my info could be old.

Welcome GG! Is your son excited now that it is getting so close to him leaving?
ATT is advanced technical training. They do this before A school. But before ATT he will go to INDOC which is basically just info on what to expect. You are getting a jump start on this info! I had to be carefully I didn't get info over load too quickly! There is so much to learn while they are in BC with all the terms.
Glad you have come to this site- there are lots of veterans on here that can answer your questions. My son PIR'd in May and is in A school now for ET.
