I'm certain someone in the group went to see their sailor come home on a ship sometime not all that long ago (within the last six months?).  Can you please let me know who you were so I can send you some questions?  Thanks!

Hello everyone! I am new to this group and just wanted to say Hi! I am in the NEwport area (about 50 miles east of Knoxville). We are the last major town before the NC state line.

I have 3 kids, 2 girls (21 and 17) and a boy (16). My oldest daughter enlisted in teh Navy this past Friday and goes to MEPS tomorrow.  My youngest daughter is considering enlisting in June after she graduates and my son is enlisting in the Air Force when he graduates. This is an amazing experience, full of a whole lot of different emotions - fear, pride, worry.... it is so comforting to know there are others close by going through the same.

My hubby works for Knoxville police as a violent crimes detective. I am in town quite a bit and would love to meet up with anyone close by  if you all have meetings or groups or anything. I'll keep reading thru the info here to learn what you all are doing. It's GREAT to be here and THANK YOU!

dixiechick was asking about travel for PIR 2/11/11.  Try mwrtravelplus.com ... It is in the booklet sent out by your SR recently.  It has great info and easy to access. As for me, I am in Erin (about 3 miles east of the Tn River).  Beautiful country scene year round..

Yes, both sailors came home for Christmas.....one from Norfolk and my son from Pensacola.  They married the week prior to Christmas then left for Norfolk where she had to report back to duty.  My son stayed there for a week before flying out today to go back to his training in PCola.  I know it is hard on both of them....sad.....married 2 weeks now.  I didn't get to see them very much the week they were here----but was great the time I did get.

Happy New Year all!  Hope this new year of 2011 is a wonderful one for you!

Wanda that is great, I know it was good to hear your sons voice. I hope mom and new bundle of joy are doing good.We missed Kyle being home for Christmas but due to his surgery they would not let him come home, he is doing great, he has returned back to work. I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and will have a happy new year.
