that's a great note Lyn!

I just got this great thank you from the Stennis. I never know who will get which pillowcase, but it seems like the Chaplain has done a great job getting the right one to the right sailors.

Lyn,

I wanted to send you a quick “thank you” for the pillow case you made for USS JOHN C. STENNIS.  As the Navigator onboard, I am referred to as the “Gator.”   When the Chaplain saw your pillow case (yellow with blue trim, trim has “gators” and fish on it) he set it aside to give to me (the “Gator”).

The honor and privilege of serving in the finest Navy in the world is made even more gratifying with the support, thoughts, and prayers of people back home.

Thank you,
Commander *** *******, USN
Navigator (aka “Gator”)
USS JOHN C. STENNIS

love this note!
How nice!
Awesome Fabric !!!
Finally figured out what I was doing wrong to upload pictures.  The two pics are the pcs that I sent for the Stennis some time ago.
I thought I recognized some of that fabric!  they look great.  what were you doing wrong?
Love the fabric !

I was trying to ''upload files" instead of using the "image" button.  2nd on the bar on top.

here is a nice thank you note from a sailor on the Stennis:

Barbara,

My name is Mxxxxxx.  I am a Petty Officer that is stationed aboard
the USS John C. Stennis.  I wanted to write to you to say thank you for
taking the time to provide a small touch of home to those of us
deployed.  It is the simple things that most of us enjoy while deployed
and especially anything that helps us take our minds off the rigors of
the daily routine or helps bring warmth to our home away from home.
Being from North Carolina, I have always found country living to suit my
style and your pillow case helped give me that needed touch of home that
was lacking.  I would like to return the favor and would be honored if
you would allow me to send something as a token of my appreciation for
the support you have provided to me and countless others.  Thank you for
all that you do for all of us.

I responded with:
You do not need to send her anything, but I do love it when my "crew" is recognized.  I have several patches and
coins from the Lincoln.  Would you be able to send her something like that from the Stennis?  Or a refrigerator magnet from one of your ports.  My son got me alot of those and I have them on mine.

If yes, then I will email you my address and I will get the gift to
Barb.  She lives close to me and we have been friends for years.

Sue,

I received two pillow cases (Actually, I picked out two).  The first one
was solid red with a watermelon print at the opening. The second was
blue and had a patch-quilt design to it.  This one did not have an email
address in it but the two were right next to each other when I picked
them up.  Both are beautiful in my opinion and they have definitely
provided a warm and welcoming feel to my bunk.

As for the patches and coins, I could definitely do that.  Since my
career started almost 18 years ago I have collected patches and coins to
serve as a reminder of who I served with and where I have been.  Right
now, I can send her the ship's patch and a coin which has our ships
namesake on it.  The cruise patches have not been made available yet,
but as soon as they become available I would be happy to send one of
those as well.

Oddly enough, this is my second tour aboard USS John C. Stennis.  I was
part of the crew when it did its maiden deployment in 1998 and currently
doing my last deployment on here.

Again, thank you for what you and the crew of HAE have done for us and
continue to do for those deployed around the world.
