Bee Keeper my son texted me on Sunday and said they had pulled in early.  They should  be in port now until some time in April.  Hope this helps.

Anyone know if the New York is deployed or on a mission?  Haven't heard from our son in a month after multiple weekly calls.  Not too concerned but was hoping they were just out and he didn't have a chance to let us know.

Thanks!

We are all heartbroken, sad and angry yet proud of the sacrifices our Sailors and all the families are enduring. It doesn't help that the holiday seasons are upon us and not knowing if they will be home or not stresses all of us. Please continue to pray for them as we ask God for divine mercy and protection. Embrace our loved ones and protect them giving them courage and strength againsst all enemies both spiritual and physical and hasten their safe journey back to their homes and families. Amen.

Stay strong for your sailor and family here at home. Send them care packages and words of love and encouragement - they don't want to be there either - it is up to us here at home to raise their spirits. Together we will all get thru this - we may not like it but we'll do it <3

I've been off line for awhile now and just checking in as we are getting ready for a Home Coming.  Never did get any info from the Ombudsmen that there was a 'cut off' date for mail.  Actually just sent a pkg today - duhhhh!  I have been signed up with her since the beginning - and even inquired for mail and the tiger cruise. Nothing as of yet.  Anybody else might know anything? My sailor told me that it was recently approved but waiting for any info.

Hello moms of the USS New York!  My son is getting ready to join the ship in October.  He just graduated from bc and is currently in training.  Just wanted to ask all of you veteran moms what to expect...like how often to you get to talk to your sailor and how often do they come into port?  Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here is a picture of the Hat I ordered my sailor.  It is a milestone in the Navy to pass the Equator and not all Sailors get the experience in their career.  I will give it to him at home coming - just google Navy Shellback and I ordered it from the Jacksonville Museum - the price is only $15 with shopping.  I'm not endorsing or selling just want to share my find - of a nice surprise and what I think is a cool looking hat. (for the powers that be)  it's just that all our sailors on the USSNew York are proud Shellbacks -  Bravo Zula!

We also heard from our sailor - they are doing great and have turned from Tadpoles to Shellbacks. They got to swim, snorkel and step on real soil.  It actually took 4-6 weeks before he received his package. But we are caught up to date until the next port stop. They are excited to reach the 1/2 way mark until they can come home to family and friends.  As tough as it is for us.....it's worse for them. They left port and will be at sea 3weeks - 45 days give or take....destination unknown. But the sound of his voice was priceless.I too cried after passing the phone over to my husband who asked my sailor why is mom crying and I just said I was so HAPPY to hear his voice - Fairwinds and Following Seas - Go with God and stay safe USS New York :)
