Yes, my son worked for a month or so when he got there until they had a group together for C school.  Did your son say which squadron he is with?  I am not sure what "I" level is, I will ask my son.  It will be nice for your son to get leave next month, enjoy!

UrabissWife, I did talk to my son and he told me he may have to go to C school later. He is in what is called an Indoc division for a max of 45 days. I did see those links, but I have not seen any new post on there. This group is great. Since my son is an AD. Thanks for the info!

I asked my husband he said its either one of three things...your son will go to c school later when they have the people, he is not rated yet, or he is on line shack which they don't go to C school........and I haven't found a Whidbey island group. this is a really tiny base here...but here is a couple links maybe you can find more moms within them http://www.navyformoms.com/group/washingtonoregon?commentId=1971797...      that one is for Washington and Oregon...there are a lot of bases in Washington but there is bound to be a few people for Whidbey island  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/washingtonoregon/forum/topics/whid...

Does anyone know if there is a current group for Whidbey Island families?

My son is already working. He is not going to C school. Thats why I was wondering why some sailors go to C school and some just go right to working even when they are AD's

haha I guess this is AD moms group :P I failed to read that ... after C school he will head straight for the hanger and start working. like jskmom said those planes are too big for the ships so when they get deployed they will go on land. my husband works on the prowlers so he is attached to a squadron that is attached to a ship on the east coast. a bonus to him being deployed to land and not on the big blue ocean is communication is so much better :)

mom21sailor: I do know that he is "I" level. Not sure what that means. He did say something about a VP squadron, but thought it was a new squadron. He did not get leave after A school, but just told me today he may be getting leave sometime next month for 10 days. I will find out more tonight when he calls. Hope you enjoyed your time with your son.

Jskmom

If he is P3 at Whidbey it is likely he'll be with the VP-1 squadron (Screaming Eagles).  P3's are too big too land on a ship.  He will have C school for a few weeks and then probably join up with the sqadron.  My son is also an AD with VP-1, he loves the base and his job.  Most of the squadron just came back from leave, my son left to go back on Sunday, he was hoome for 12 days but we won't see him again until Christmas.  He is deploying in a few weeks, I will try to answer any questions that I can for you.

Sorry, he is an AD. He'll be working on P3 planes. That's all I know so far.
