GMA - I think that would be fun if you did a roadtrip with your grandson!  Think of the memories you both would have ;-)

Mine isn't anywhere near leaving for a carrier yet. He's still in NY - waiting for his prototype class to start.  Once it starts it should be about another 6 months (as long as the reactor doesn't go down!).  After that he will be done with schooling and then will head out to a carrier.

B'sNukeMom...I just spoke with him last evening..it looks like he will be going to Norfolk the end of June or the 1st 2 weeks of July...he is currently looking for the friend to drive with him first to Indy to see his Dad and then on to Norfolk...if he doesn't find a friend I am contemplating driving with him and then fly home...and yes, I have read all about the USS Vella Gulf..thank you for checking and letting me know about the group...I will join it..when does you son leave?....also will he be on a carrier?

GMA - when does your grandson leave for Norfolk?

I also see that there is a group on here for the USS Vella Gulf.  Make sure you join it (if you haven't already!).

This is pretty awesome. Family members serving aboard carriers Truman and Bush enjoy rare meeting at sea.
