wow! I have never heard of this before. I'll have to look at their site.
My son said the cookies came from The Iowa Cookie Crumbs Co. Their Facebook page says "The Iowa Cookie Crumbs are part of Jeanette Cram's network of Treat the Troops "Crumbs". We send boxes of homemade cookies, snacks, comfort items and letters of thanks and support to our deployed military men and women. Since 2007 the Iowa Cookie Crumbs have sent 718,322 cookies!"
The box was personally addressed to my son. Not sure how they got his name.
Tonya - as long as the ziploc stays air-tight...it should not. I've had pieces of bread in a packaged of brown sugar for over a year and bread did not mold :-)
Sent 2 pkg from MI on 3/26 - both scanned locally - the one that arrived today scanned thru Chicago, the other was never scanned again. The box with goodies arrived and Katie said "FYI they all say "We love your Mom!!!!"....Now I wonder where package #2 is?
Sorry, that should have said stuntsmom. :)
stantsmom, it's really hard work but has he considered Recruiting Duty? Lots of opportunities in Texas for Recruiters. There are three Navy Recruiting Districts in Texas, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. NRD Phoenix covers El Paso.
I worked in Navy Recruiting for the last 14 years of my career so if you or he has any questions feel free to ask.
If he does look into Recruiting Duty he needs to talk to the Recruiting Detailer about getting sent to Texas before he gets released to the Recruiting Detailer. Once he has been turned over to Recruiting they can send him anywhere in the country so he needs to discuss Texas with them before he commits.
A way to keep cookies moist is place a piece of white bread in the ziploc bag in with them (use the heels of the loaf if you wish). This also works to keep brown sugar from turning into a hard rock once the package is open.
My first package got there quickly so it sounds like mine didn't go through a beating. Second package - waterproofed it in layers of bags on the inside. Extra tape around all corners.

I am not sure at all. I know my son was up against some others. He had his interview on Monday. Thanks dad for the information.
