LoriM, my son's boat was dry dock and he earned his Dolphn without going out, so it is possible to earned them in dry dock.

Happy Easter everyone.  I hope everyone hears from their Sailor today.  Also, does anyone know if your Sailors boat is in dry dock and they are still working on their dolphins do they go out on another boat?  Haven't heard from my son in a bit.

Kev's mom. I think it is b/c I have not seen that before. Let us know if you were able to contact an ombudsman. Maybe Kaye can keep that link somewhere w our pages.

985cat- my son just recently deployed for the first time on a Boomer and I got a very short email from him about 4 days after he left. I am sure it is completely up to their command and other factors when they allowed to email. I will continue to email frequently just so he can feel connected to the world lol! He did tell me to make sure I numbered them because they don't always come in order. I know that I have definitely taken the constant contact for granted these last months while he was in school! I have read those three short lines from his email several times lol. I pray you will hear from your son soon:)

Allison, so happy that you got to see your son for 1 hour before he was deployed, I know that meant the world to both of you, & those memories at the airport, is what will keep both of you going, until your son returns. Speaking of returns, I can't wait to see our son when we get back from our River Cruise. We should be greeting him home from his 7 month Marine deployment, but instead, he will be greeting us, when we return! My cold is 100% better! that's before I went through 2 full boxes of tissues on the boat, & now look like, Roudolf, the red-noised reindeer, but it doesn't matter because I have something special to look forward to when we return home. Can't wait, even though we have had a wonderful time on the cruise, seen some fantastic places, & have met some great people, it will be nice to be home for Easter with at least one our military sons.

Alison I was so happy for you when I read your comment. What a blessing that your paths crossed if even for only an hour. How amazing is it that he by chance had a stopover at your local airport!!  I bet you created so many wonderful memories in such a small space of time.

BunkerQB I found a link to the Ombudsman Registry. I'm wondering if this is the one you were referring to?

My son is still in nuke power school so it will be awhile for me. What I read and understand is that on a sub, they run silent, so you are encouraged to email often even everyday, they go thru and he gets yours but he is only allowed to respond every now and again maybe not till they are at halfway.

I have a question. My son has been gone approximately 3 weeks on a Boomer. Any of you have a time frame on when or about how long it took to receive a email. I have not received anything. However I have sent 3 and they have not bounced back so im thinking they have gone through.
