I'm so happy reading all the good news about first choice orders and graduations and just about everything. Welcome to the group  all the new sub moms! I just wanted to share my experience of a lifetime. My boy just got back from his first deployment, actually half deployment, he met his boat half way. We flew to WA for the Homecoming and we  waited for him at the airport in Seattle since we couldn't get on base without Military ID and it was amazing, a moment I will cherish forever. I had a chance to meet his Superiors and shipmates and I can rest assured knowing my son is in good hands. He got to see beautiful places in a very short time during port calls. I'm a very proud momma!

Our Sailors are always in my thoughts and prayers!

k-love, I use USPS for all my shipping. I send goodies, sent his PS3 and games, and all sorts of things. I use the flat rate boxes, and they get there within 2-3 days. Guaranteed in 2, but it gets to Groton in 2 days, sometimes another day before the base picks it up, sometimes not. The price is very reasonable.

kevsmom93 - yours going to Pearl too - what boat?

mine is USS Texas - he said he only gets one week home - he's driving his car home and sending his TV to Pearl - I hear you about all those cold weather clothes but you never know!  They may get to go somewhere cold yet.  My son left all of his in his POD and had to buy more for Groton so he has double now. I already have his car sold, he took such good care of it.

The radio is worth more than the car though and my husband has the same car - he is swiping it.  He says he is going to get a new bicycle when he gets there.  I joined the Hawaii group - have you? I am reading all the back posts and it is really informative.  I am so glad he is finally finished with school - I hope??

doubletrouble - you think Texas is far - I am in Florida - just as far and 6 1/2 hours they say to Pearl.  I hate flying already.  I will have to have a number of drinks just to get on the plane. LOL

Kevsmom, it's so exciting! Everyone getting orders & finally getting to start their real lives, no school, no holds!
It is good that my boys will be so close to each other, too bad me and Dad are in Texas!!

So much good news on here today! Welcome k-love! I used a lot of USPS If it fits it ships. Especially if I was sending something heavy plus it gets there quickly.

Congrats Mama Jill! What wonderful news for you :-D

navymom2013-Woo Hoo our boys are going to Pearl! Yep our boys should get to come home when they detach from Groton. Our son's orders are to be in Hawaii first part of June so that means he should have a minimum of 2 weeks home! His Dad and I and all our family can't wait. Our son already sold his car (it's a Subaru Impreza if any of your boys bought it??) And he sold his big screen TV. That's all he's got besides too many winter clothes...lol won't be needing those!

double trouble you are one lucky mom to have them both close at hand that is awesome :-) Congratulations to both your boys!

NavyMom26 - they just found out today and my son says they are all pretty much getting what they are asking for and so happy!  It's a real good day there in Groton.

doubletroublesh4div379sh12div387 - I am so happy for you also that your guys got what they liked.  That really helps their morale.

My son informed me that they stay with the boat - so they can go one place and if the boat gets moved to another, they go there.

I am getting the car, the bicycle and all my son's furniture and now he has finally told me to sell it all.  What a yard sale I am going to have in June.  I am so happy for him and I am checking out the Hawaiian jewelry so he will know what I want from there LOL.  I thought I saw a flight round trip for $453 per person - I am packing soon.  Ordering T-Shirts and car stickers now.  Am I nuts or what?

That's awesome navymon2013! I was hopingone of my sailors would get Pearl, I have a sub and a surface sailor. My submariner just got back to Groton, that was his first choice on his list & he got it! He loves it there. He was home for 2 wks in March then back there. My surface sailor just got his verbal orders for Norfolk & be assigned to a destroyer. The good thing about where they are stationed is they are only an 8 hour drive apart! If they got leave together they could visit each other and when we plan a visit we could get to them both on one trip! I'm a happy mom!
