OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

It's ok I'm learning too, especially because we have to get used to not posting things when they are in deployment!

Morning, All!  My daughter got to call us again this morning.  Got more of an explanation on her failing her PFA.  She IS going to be in a FIT unit but she has 2 more tries to pass her PFA for her run, to make it to graduation on time.  Keep her in your prayers!!!!    Her other news was she lost her ATM card!  UGH!  Too much drama for me.. going to get an ulcer!!   LOL!  Your positive comments on this and hearing about your SRs has lifted my spirits!  Thank you!!

Traysea, I haven't left my house because I am waiting for the mailman lol. Last Thursday I was late for work because I wouldn't leave until he came. Thank God my boss understands! Unfortunately , I drink WAY to much coffee:)

Good Morning!! OMG...... I'm so excited my mom called me and told me I received mail from my son and another SR!! I'm patiently waiting for her to drop them off to me at work!! Trying to stay still sitting here at work. Nervous and excited all in one thank goodness I don't drink coffee because then I would really be bouncing off the walls. I will post once I read the letters!! Breathe.........
