~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Unfortunately, the SRs will not know their exact flight plans until after BattleStations, shortly before PIR.  So hard to coordinate yours with theirs.

And, yes, you can visit with your sailors at the airports!  Take ID and get an airlines gate pass so you can wait until their plane departs.

I just got a letter from my SR.He sound so good.  It make me so happy.  He said he can't explain how happy it makes him to get mail almost every night from me.  He said it really makes him feel like he is still talking to me on a daily basis. So all you write as much as possible.  Shouldn't be a problem for most us women LOL.  Below is a form that I mailed to my SR to give me on graduation day.  They will know all that information before he graduates.

FLIGHT CARD FOR RECRUITS LEAVING FOR A SCHOOL

FLIGHT CARD FOR RECRUITS LEAVING FOR A SCHOOL

Mail this on an index card to your recruit if they are flying out to another base on PIR weekend. Once they get their itinerary they should fill it out and then give it to you at PIR. They won't have this info in time to mail it; they receive it in their hard copy of orders and itinerary the week of graduation. They go back to their ship and rack to check out and that is when they should grab it so remind them. This will keep you from ending up at the wrong airport or airline gate.

Please fill this out when you get your final orders and then give it to us at PIR. Do not mail it.

Karen, my son is going for Cryptologic Technician. I planned my stay til Sunday morning just in case he gets any liberty on Saturday or in case I could see him off at the airport. But I guess that might not happen. I bet our Friday goes by so fast. He's gonna get annoyed with all my hugs and picture taking. Lol.

Hopefully today is letter day for me too. I got my last one on Thursday last week. And I really hope he's getting my letters. 25 days before I start my short journey to see my youngest complete this long journey. Does anyone know if I will be able to see him off at the airport on Saturday? Will they know their travel plans? A school is in Pensacola.

Yay for letters!  Letter day for me too!

Today is one month anniversary that my SR has been away from home! Tears and Cheers :-)

No, Karen, they use both OHare and Midway, and we have heard they will start using Milwaukee eventually too.  So far, we have not heard that it has started though...not sure.  OHare and Midway are about 25-30 minutes apart.
