DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Yes, my son is leaving on May 1st - He leaves from California.

He'll go onto NUKE school after BC.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Hi VeganMom. My son was set to leave September 2. He got a call Friday and now he is leaving May 1. We are from the Pearland (Houston), Texas area.

Hi MattsMom, my son is leaving for BC on May 1,2014. A-school will be in Houston, Fort Sam. Have u been there?

Fort Sam Houston is near San Antonio, not Houston.

I left info for you on your My Page about the HM rating and groups.

Thanks finally got a chance 2 look on line. Son's papers were misleading. It read---
Fort Sam
Houston,TX
On two lines- so we thought Houston.
Looks like this is mostly army & Air Force. Does the navy have equal status? Anyone else have someone going there for A-school?
What is a HM rating?

HM stands for Hospital Corpsman. Fort Sam started as an Army Base, but is now part of the joint services bases and those who have contracts in the medical field in any branch of the military will go there for training.

Check the info I left for you on your My Page.

My son is going to A school at Fort Sam too. We live in San Antonio so it's pretty close. The Navy dorms for the corpsman are pretty nice. I heard they are nicer than the other branches. Also, heard they get liberty by the third week. Fort Sam is a good base to be stationed at for A school. If you need any info on Fort Sam let me know. Also hears they will do some training at samc. Probably one of the best bases to train at for any medical career field.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Sorry, G'smom, I missed your post. No, I was not aware there was an A school in Houston!

There is no "A" School in Houston. The "A" School for HM is at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
