OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

J's mom and JujeB:  I sent you both a friend request. I'm happy to meet people who's SR's are going to Nuke school. They will be there for a while!... my daughter did not tell me that she picked a specialty yet.. but if I had to guess it may be electronics. She's taken that in college and she thought it was easy.  She struggled a little more with the mechanical and physics part. She's better at math.

We assume she has to be on a carrier.  From what were were told there are very few women on subs.  Mainly officers and still very rare, but who knows? Its changing all the time.

Hi.. Haven't been here in a while.  Mainly on facebook page lately.  Daughter is in 14/165.  Received several letters.  Only 1 real phone call since she's been there and it was really short. I'm not worried... I think she's busy.  Letters indicate that they are doing OK.  they had to do IT because of people goofing off, but I hope that is done for for now.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at PIR on 5-9.  We will try to go to sarge's meet and greet but don't know what time we will get there.  Feel free to send friend requests if you want..J's mom...what is your son doing at A school in SC?.  My daughter is going to be in nuke school in Charleston.
