~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you! Happy Easter! He is Risen Indeed!

Yes, my son did get high ASVAB scores, so maybe he will not be performing but I will definitely be watching on 5/16 and 5/23 PIR to see if I can get a glimpse of him, lol! I watched part of the one this last Friday, just to get an idea of what goes on. Got all teary eyed and it wasn't even our PIR, haha! Don't know how I'm going to get through ours!

My daughter left April 8 and is in Div 929 too. I have only received her "I'm here" call and the form letter. She wrote a little note on the top of her form letter that said "I made the band!" She plays baritone. I read on one of these posts that Div 929 is scheduled to perform at 5/16 PIR and 5/23 PIR. I'm going to watch both online to try to get a glimpse of my girl!
Hang in there. We will get a call soon.

Happy Easter! Welcome NanM!

Probably right, NanM....but not all in the 900 divisions perform...some tend to the VIPs at the PIR services....They usually want those with higher ASVAB scores in the 900 divisions since they have to practice for performance and keep up with training as well.

Good Morning All and Happy Easter!  The Lord is Risen!

Son called a week ago.  So I wasn't expecting a call from him today.  I'm just wondering what happened to his letter.  He said he was going to write it and send it out on Sunday.  That would have been last Sunday.  Still waiting...

Hi Everyone! I've been reading for a week or so, but just finally got registered and accepted! My SR shipped out to RTC on April 1 and I've only gotten his "made it here" phone call and gotten his form letter (Div 929). So many here seem to have gotten phone calls and letters already.....I'm so happy for you all, but sitting on pins and needles hoping I don't miss a call from him :(                          He's Nuke and in Div 929! After reading that Div 900 is a Performance Division, I'm guessing it's because of his JROTC and rifle/saber experience, since he's never been in band or choir.

MommaShep you said your  son is Nuke too? If you said in an earlier post what his Div is, I don't remember what it was. I hope my son is making friends too. He's pretty quiet...hope I hear something from him soon...

MustangRobin:  Hope that they can help him at Bootcamp with a prescription....the BCG's are now much better than they were a few years back in case he has to wear those during PIR!  Glad he is ok with them!  :-)

Good evening Navy Moms. I hope you all got calls from your children like I did today. The best conversation I've ever had with him! He already sound different....mature, confident and happy. He really sounded happy. He said he's met several other nukes in his division and also in their brother division 187. The call lasted for about 30 minutes. He talked to me, his dad and even grandma! He mentioned that he was starting to wonder when he didn't get any mail for several mail calls and then he got the one I sent him on Tuesday. I explained how long it took for me to get the letter and then he understood. I made several sheet of mailing labels and sent some to all the family and friends he trusts to send appropriate mail. It makes it easier for them to send him mail and it also ensures the address is exactly correct. The fear and concerns i have been struggling with since he left and fading very quickly. Amazing what a phone call can do - isn't it. I wish you all a peaceful nights rest and a blessed Easter tomorrow. God Bless our children.

Diannep, yes I meant the exam they did at BC. He said on the phone today he is going to check and see if he can get an exam for contacts, but we both feel like it will probably not happen til after PIR. He said the "BCG's are not the most stylish, but they aren't from the 50's" LOL He doesn't remember where he last got his eyes examined (he hasn't lived at home for 3 years, so I can't help him remember); I tried the few optician's he thought it might be, but it was too long ago for me to get a box from any of them. :)

Hmmm, MustangRobin.  Did he have any possibilities of where he last got the contacts so that you could contact the optician directly to see if that is where he went?  I'm not sure how much he can handle from up there, if that is what you are asking.  When you say "a copy of the prescription they just did", are you talking about where he got his last contacts....or....his eye exam at Bootcamp?
