Hello All, Finally received an email from my son who is aboard a boomer. He sounded tired and busy. He is working on the dolphins so I expect that. It was great to get something from him. I hope to get more.

Did hear from my son.  He had been on duty and working very hard.  No rest when the boat is in dry dock.  He did sound a bit tired but good. Felt bad because he wasn't able to pick up the box I sent him for Easter and he had no plans for dinner. The life of a Sailor.

The insignia has a dolphin on each side. It is an honor to earn this. The seaman is a NUB until he earns this. He has to know something about everything on a sub so he is able to cover his fellow submariners backs. Look on the pages forum for more info. Read all of them...very interesting reading and you will learn a lot.

Thank you William.

Laura, dolphins is slang for the Submarine Warfare badge that they are awarded for becoming qualified in submarines.
