DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just realized it has been 4 years since I joined this site. My daughter had just joined the Navy and was preparing to leave for boot camp. She left on May 25th 2010. It seems like that was just a few months ago. Boot camp drug by but the last 4 years have flown :) maybe because I am getting old lol

Hello all, somewhere along the line there was a post of gift ideas we could purchase for our SRs. The list included laptops, watches etc. can that be posted again please?

My best advice is to check the reviews for any hotel you are thinking about staying in no mater when or where. And even though a hotel may be listed on the brochure you received with your form letter that doesn't necessarily mean the Navy recommends those hotels it just means those hotels paid to advertise on that brochure. You will be much happier if you do your homework and stay in place you and family feel comfortable staying in :)

diannep - haha this site is very helpful and I do get more info here than elsewhere! I think it was more of a "there's some recruits here who have moms on the website" type thing. Was trying get a lot if info from him because last time he called I was incoherent. :[

kellygray79 - My birthday was on Thursday. Thanks and happy belated birthday to you! Makes it hard when we don't have our loved ones around to celebrate but I hope you had a good one. :)

@abbi's mom. I saw on Facebook that you can email sarge I think and let him know that we would like a table for our division. I will have 4 attending. I am trying to find the post I saw it on.

LMarieK - when is your birthday?  Mine was Friday and my brother called Sunday to tell me Happy Birthday!  I was so excited to hear from him, I can't imagine if my husband were away!  Bless you! :)

Suggested hotels from reviews on here from previous PIR attendees:

Navy Lodge, Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn.  The last 4 are close together, close to Sarge's MeetandGreet.  Navy Lodge is about a mile or so from RTC.  Good rates.  Book that one in your SR's name.

Be sure to ask the other hotels for their Navy Graduation rate.  You must call the hotel directly to get this.
