I'm a Navy Wife and I created this group back when I was a girlfriend and my now husband had gone to bootcamp. Its funny because i joined this website when they had under 50 members. This website has been sooooo helpful and I met so many people on here that gave great advice. I made this group so that we could all come together and give eachother advice and share ideas. I see that this group is growing more and more by the day, Im happy to see that because so many wives/fiances/and girlfriends are clueless when it comes the military lifestyle. Not knowing what to expect and not knowing about deployments, bootcamp, duty stations, etc. I want this to be the place you all recommend because so many people on this site are knowledgeable and very helpful. Once again thanks for joining my group and i hope you get all the information you need. I dont get to log on as much as i used to but i try my best to get on here. So if u have any questions feel free to make a discussion topic and Im positive that it will get answered if not, inbox me :-) Take Care ♥

Does anyone know what the "dress code" is for PIR?

Comment by Anti M on April 23, 2014 at 2:55pm

While there is a C school for yeomen, it usually is not assigned to fresh junior sailors.  The COOL card lists the A  school as 5 weeks.  If he has to wait for other students to class, or go to an indoc class (about the base, liberty policies, duty, etc), that can add a few days, or even a week or two.  I've never heard of it being shorter!

Anti M, his rate is Personnel Specialist in Administration.

Which rating (job)?  There are five which go to MS.

I have a question... so My Fiance is in Meridian for A School and at first he was telling me that he was supposed to be there for about 45 days, now he says about 25. So does that mean he has a C School?

I am sorry for coming off so negative.

Unfortunately, this is one of those Navy tings which can be wonderful, or just plain frustrating.

I don't have a good "feel" for how strict Groton is on this (Great Lakes and P-cola, very open to allowing it, time permitting).  I do know Groton is picky about liberty for the single guys.  Sub folks tend not to be very open with information.  Have you found a group with other sub wives (non nuke)?   First hand experience from sub school wives will help immensely.   I don't see a listing for a school ombudsman (spouse liaison).  You can talk to their chaplain at any time, even if you are not religious, they may be able to talk about command policies and what is realistic.

Let me just tell u my situation, our baby is due at the end of June. When my husband started A school he was supposed to be on hold much longer than what he really was. When he first got to his school he told his command that we were expecting a baby. He was told that most likely he could take the paternity leave while in school but that it would put him back on hold for school. And would push him back. Well now he is grad school around the end of may. Which puts him reporting to his new duty station right when our baby is born. What we were told is as soon as my husband gets his orders (hard copy) to call his new command right Away and tell them that he is expecting a baby and depending on his command they either would or wouldn't let him take leave. The way I understood paternity leave Is they have to let you have it within the 365 of baby's arrival except they chose when and how you can use it. A few days or all together etc. so he may not get to use it at a time of his choosing. The best thing he can do is be up front with his command and keep them informed.

He starts A School in June, and it's for 30wks, I believe. The baby is due in August.

Ashley will he be finished w A school when the baby comes or still in school?
