Yes, NavyMom, he seems to enjoy being there.  Boot camp is so intense and so strict, that this is quite a welcome change for him:)  He is just doing indoc right now, so I don't know when his actual classes begin, but so far, so good!

NavyMom93 your information is helpful. I had read something about the difference between  A schools out of state or at GL related to how early they leave after PIR.It sounds like A school is a positive change from bootcamp.

NavyMom, my son got to the airport around 2 A.M. the Saturday morning after PIR, and he flew out at 9:30 that morning!  All of graduation weekend is a whirlwind!  He was settling into his room by that afternoon and enjoying the barbeque they had on Easter Sunday :)  I actually gave him his laptop along with his Nook, his ipod and his phone at the airport.  Dede, maybe they made him lock his laptop up, I don't know, but anyway, he seems to really be enjoying everything, and according to him it is quite a switch from boot camp!

I am so glad all of you are here! Our SR will PIR 6/6/14 and then MC  A school. It seems that a lot of information about MC is not up to date or in the case of one link  no longer exists.  Do they PIR and then the next day fly to Maryland?

I am here and awake! My fiance is in MC A school and has been there since March 1st, but didn't class up until March 18th. They have their 3 phases and normally they make them wait a couple weeks before they are able to receive their laptops in the mail. BUT the small devices dont matter and are normally given at the airport after their PIR :)

Hello out there, I'm a Navy Mom with a DEPper about to go to boot camp in May then MC A school. Any information or advice about BC or Ft. Meade will be much appreciated. One question related to A school: when and what are they allowed to have re: things from civilian life? ie. car, laptop personal clothes, etc.

I've found Navy 4 Moms a very helpful website...thank you so much!

Hi Navy Mom.  I am a current Navy Mom with a son in MC school, but I don't know if anyone is active on here.  I might be able to answer some of your questions.  My son has been in MC school for about 6 weeks now.

Is there any 2014 information about Mass Communications A School? Also, is this group still active or is there another one ?

Colette, I know that grading is tough!  That's why I mentioned it in my post!  Where does your son hope to go after school?
