OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

CatMom:  I am a "read instructions" type of girl....and I don't mean just pictures!  That seems to be how so many instructions are these days....I just am amazed that my printer came with no instruction booklet and I'm expected to go online to read it there.  UGH!

My computer is Windows 7....I didn't want to go near Windows 8, even though it is newer.  I had to purchase the Office Home separately....online with a download code....so that is all setup now and I have my Outlook back.  My computer has been fine so far...but the printer is the challenge!

Pink eye is one of the most common ailments at Bootcamp.  The good news is with the drops, it is cured quickly.  I know that they will not allow the SRs to go into BattleStations with pink eye, so pray that they don't have it then!

diannep,

Isn't it great to have new electronics, except they don't make it easy to really learn the details of how to operate them.  It's going to be a learning experience, that's for sure!!  Did your new desktop come loaded with anything?  What is the new operating system called?

Greetings!

"Through the Lord's mercies  we are not consumed,

because His compassions fail not.  They are new

every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul,

therefore I hope in Him!' "

Good Morning!

Lala, I just got a new Desktop this week....had to replace my 2006 one (which I still loved) because XP is no longer being supported by Microsoft so it was at risk.  Still learning about this new one but so far, it is good!  Now, I was also forced into a new 4 in 1 printer....because my other one was 15 yrs old (but still worked great!) and the connections would not fit into the new computer....I'm still learning how to work that....my other one was so much more simple!  UGH!  Why do they have to make things so difficult?  And directions for the printer?  They didn't send them....only setup directions...they refer me to a website to look up the manual...which is over 300 pages long!  WHAT?  Frustrating!

Star77, I have a new laptop on it's way to me now, I decided against the touch screen. I had heard they have problems and like you, I didn't think I would use it much anyway.
