~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just a "heads up" re: cindyb's post below about the FB groups.  Please keep in mind that any groups you are on, even with screening, will most likely have some RDCs (your SRs' bosses!) on there.  There is just no way to really know who they are letting into the groups since they can only go by info supplied.  The administrators of these groups are ladies like us...just ones who have been through the bootcamp experience.  They do not have a list of the SRs' names to verify that you belong there....just wanted to emphasize that.  They are just like we are here....I post this because we have found that some have left this group and gone into the FB groups only because they feel they are "safer" from prying eyes and they can be more open in their posts.  Not true....any of the RDCs can have friends/family members pose as family of an SR to get into these groups....and guess what?  Who would have more info about your SR and bootcamp than the RDCs?  We know for a fact that there have been some RDCs who have been able to get info from these groups in the past....previous SRs have confirmed this.

So, here is the warning.  Do not feel an extra sense of safety in the FB "closed" groups.  It doesn't exist.  DO realize that all of your own personal info is exposed there....which means that it will be very easy for the RDCs to figure out who you belong with re: your SR.  Here on N4Moms, we ask that you do not post a pik of your SR here....and suggest not even using your SR's first name, so as to try and maintain anonymity on this site, separate from your SR.  Personally?  I think it is much easier on this site to stay anonymous than  it is on the FB site.

If you decide to join these groups, that is fine.  But as is the same as posting on this site, please be very careful what you post, especially in reference to what your SR tells you specifically about their RDCs, etc....Yes, in the past, some SRs have been pulled into the RDC's office and asked about their "mom" , etc being on here or on FB.  Not to say that is breaking any rules....but we just don't want your SRs to draw attention.  Some ladies have gotten so freaked out when we tell them this that they get off all groups.  I hope you don't do that....just be wise in what you post.  If your SR tells you that he/she doesn't like a particular RDC, ummmm.....not a good thing to post.  If he/she criticizes how stupid something is at RTC....also not good to post.  But if he/she says they did great on a test, or they are looking forward to something, fine to post.  Remember, anonymity from your actual SR is the goal on both of these sites.  It is not always possible to maintain that, but don't make it easy for the RDCs to connect you to your SR!

Sorry for rambling!  But after 4 yrs on this site, specifically helping here with the PIR groups, I have seen it all and want to make sure all get the most advantage out of these groups without compromising your SRs!

And with that, I will say....Good Morning!

Good morning Ladies...So I booked my flight ...Southwest airlines!  Fly into Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon.  Not a bad deal and I just realized Southwest flies into P'cola so the mile count toward a SW award that maybe I can use to get to Florida as well :)  I hope you all have a great day!

NanM :  Glad you found your phone!

cindyb....so happy for you and that your son did great on his test!

I did find my phone, but not at work and not until AFTER we called our carrier and reported it lost/stolen and had it suspended!! Hubby found it under a chair here at home, so I didn't leave it at work after all, lol! I can laugh NOW, but I was in tears half the day worried about missing a call from our son, and losing all my pictures! :/ After 30 min. on phone with the carrier, I'm back up and running.....now all I need is a call or letter from my son :)

J-Man's mom....my son also talked about the Goodwill. They serve and make the meals and they were also the ones who issued the clothes to the SRs as well. Very cool =)

Here's something interesting to share with you...  Naval Station Great Lakes receives a lot of services from Goodwill.  In fact, all of the food services are provided by Goodwill.  Awesome!  Here's a link about that... http://www.goodwillsew.com/GoodwillGreatLakes.aspx

That is good he got to talk to your hubby mariekg, and you have a voice mail to hear his voice whenever you want :) Make sure you still keep those phone close by. Even thought he doesn't expect to get another call until after BS they can still earn calls for doing something good :) You never know when an unexpected call might come in :)

Cindy, the boys must have cleaned up their act!   I got a call as well!   Unfortunately as luck would have it I was on a conference call so it went into voice mail  :(  After sleeping with every phone in the house for weeks now I finally get the darn call and I was on a conference cal!!!  Good news is he left a voice mail messageand said "all is good here!"  "Keep the letters coming!  We're loving them"...guess he shares?!  Anyhow when he did not get me, he got the hubby.   Told him it would be the last call till Battlestations.
