Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 929

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hi everyone! Just wondering who else has a SR in this Div? Have you heard from them yet? Just got a phone call yesterday finally, lol! Was beginning to worry, although they say no news is good news. He is doing "pretty good" he says. Just trying to keep up with everything. I'm sure it's very challenging for all of them. Can't imagine having to add additional practice sessions on top of everything else. Our division is in my prayers nightly.

Anyone else here a nuke mom too? SR going to SC? I read somewhere the nukes leave really early and I'm wondering if we should go to the airport in the middle of the night so we can see them off?? Talking hubby into this may be a challenge though, lol :-)

Hi NanM.
My daughter is also in div 929. She got to Great Lakes on April 8 and I received my first phone call yesterday. She will be playing baritone in the band.
She is in avionics and will be heading to Pensacola after PIR
It was wonderful to talk to her yesterday. She said that it's challenging but so far it wasn't as bad as she had expected it to be.

Hi DebbieS

My son got there on April 1!! Looks like he's one of the unlucky ones I read about having an extra Friday there, because when I look at the calendar, he will be there 9 Fridays!  I was beginning to wonder what was going on when I saw other parents getting calls from their SRs in other divisions. On the FB page for our PIR, a LOT of parents were saying they got phone calls from their Div 929 SRs yesterday so I guess Easter Sunday was our Div turn in the call center! I'm very thankful :) Found out my son is in Drill so will have rifle performance. This means we will be able to see them perform at the two PIRs before theirs!!

Hi Everyone..only 38 more days!!  Getting the call on Sunday truly helped as just hearing her voice calmed my nerves quite a bit.  She sounded different, more of a confidence in her voice even when telling me that it was tough and harder then she had thought it was going to be.  Have an amazing day everyone :)

Hello there everyone.  My daughter is also in 929 and in the choir.  She is an AE and will stay at GL for school.  She has sounded stressed and upset on the phone but then also more confident and better by the end of the call.  No letters from her yet though.  Cant wait to see them perform the 3 times too!

Hi xfiles9497, my daughter is in the choir as well!  It sounds like we had the same call as mine said "its so much harder than I thought"..but ..... and then just talked and talked.  She sounded more confident and was excited about what was to come.

Hi everyone!

Hopefully we will all get a letter sometime this week!!  My daughter said that Sunday was the first time she was able to write.

I received my first letter yesterday!  Here's hoping that your letters are arriving soon!

My brother is in the choir and is in 929! How cool.  I plan to watch the live stream of the coming PIRs so that I might catch a glimpse of him! :)

Hi NanM,

My SR left on April 8th. I haven't received any letters yet, but on Easter he called and due to poor reception the call went straight to VM...;(  I am so sad I didn't get to hear from him....this has been much harder than I ever imagined...He is going to San Antonio for MAA A school.

I am very grateful for this site and all that post on it...as it keeps me sane...love knowing other mom's are feeling my same pain...;)

Hi Cameron'smom,

I'm so sorry you didn't get to talk to your son yet!! Mine only got to talk a couple of minutes to me because he had already called his girlfriend and used most of his minutes with her. As can be expected I guess, but I would have liked a few more minutes. He said something about getting to call on Sundays....not sure if he got that mixed up with being able to WRITE on Sundays, or if they were told they would be able to call. I'm hoping we will get another call this Sunday! I pray you get a letter or call this week! Are you going to PIR? And the Meet and Greet? Hang in there!! We are all in this together :)

Hi NanM~

Yes, I am going to the PIR and would like to go the meet and greet.  My sister and her son are flying out with me.  Thanks for the call info...I will be mindful on Sunday to watch my phone just in case.  Thanks for the encouragement....greatly appreciated and I too look forward to meeting my new Navy Sisters.....;)
