My son will be getting his first orders soon.  I want to make sure we have our ducks in a row so to speak.  Is there a place I should look for what to do?  Otherwise my big question is about his car.  It is currently registered in South Carolina.  If we have him change his registration to Illinois we could easily make sure the new tags are purchased -- but what about getting the tags on the car?  Do your sailors maintain Illinois plates or change to whatever state they reside in?  I know this probably sounds silly, but really I'm lost.

Sure is a small world!

I hope to meet you ladies someday soon!

Pat - I did receive your PM and I will reply to you. Sorry but I log on here at work and for some reason whenever I try to reply back to a PM and hit send, it just doesn't send. So, I will have to do it from home. Usually on the weekends I don't log on because I am always out and about doing stuff and then I haven't figured out how to navigate this site from my phone.

Linda - Pat tells me you also live in Carol Stream! Hi neighbor. Please send me a friend request and I will happily accept.

Just to give you all a sense of where I am on my Navy Mom journey...My daughter left for boot camp in February of this year and PIRd on April 18th. She went in as Undes. and is now in Norfolk on the USS Porter. Her experience so far, from what she tells me, has been ok and is trying to stay positive and motivated. She has met some great people along the way and from all over the US. My husband and I drove to Norfolk over the Memorial day weekend to take a car to her. She is so thankful for that because this way on her free time she can go out and explore the city. She is my oldest of 3 children. My boys are 17 and 9. No doubt that we are super proud of her...miss her dearly and she misses us too.

God bless our Sailors!

Small world! I actually lived on Birchbark Trail near Fair Oaks in 1984 when the houses were first being built.

I am sure I hate missing the BBQing because it's just around the corner from me.   I just got in from a college road trip for my other child. But next time keep me posted.
