Just checking in. Can't believe a week ago we were all at Great lakes. Then as quick as the weekend went we all have scattered to different parts of the country. I hope all are doing well., and adjusting to the new schools. Do you hear from your Sailor more now that they have access? My sailor chats with his sisters must have forgotten my phone number !! I intend to get that taken care of this weekend !!  Blessings to all and enjoy your weekend.

Also, only after completion of A school, the Navy has an option where your Sailor can work at the recruiter's office for a week Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00, and get his leave days credited back to him when he reports to his first duty station.  This is called RAP Duty and you should have your Sailor look into it to see if they would want to do that.  It works well for Sailor who have maybe a couple of weeks leave to be home~~

Oh, you gals are so sweet!!  This group will become an Alumni group that you can still come back to and share with each other, so please do!  Many of you just won't end up in the same A school groups, bases, and ships.  Your common bond here is going through the Boot Camp days and PIR graduation together!

I never really post more than a comment here or there but, I have one more day off before going back to work after my trip to Great Lakes.  Time to reflect a little.  Thursday was a travel day there and yesterday we travelled home.  Not bad, 12.5 hours to get back to NJ.

My sailors A school is in GL so we had the weekend to spend time together!  It is bittersweet...  He had liberty on Friday from about 4:00PM - 10:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM.  We ate, did some shopping, saw a movie and went into Chicago, water taxi & Navy Pier.  But best of all was the time we just spent together at the hotel talking and being alone.  He said he wouldn't care if that was all we did honestly.

The hardest part was, after spending all of that time together, leaving him at his ship on Sunday night...  The only saving grace is now he has his phone (didn't want his laptop) so he can call or text when he has time off.  Also, he should be done on 8/24 and will have at least 5 days off before heading to Little Creek, VA.

The whole weekend I would just look at him and think, wow!  my baby (he is the youngest of 3 boys) is a US Navy Sailor!  It is surreal!  He is my little boy (he turned 19 during BC).  How did this happen?  lol!

I have always been proud of all of my boys but, this is something so different.  I think only those who have sons/daughters in the military can relate to.  They have made a commitment, for what ever reason, and are now serving their country.

I miss him terribly and cry often.  Today is one of the worst days so far (it's a down day so there is more time to think)...  I guess because of seeing him and spending time with him.  He is alone, meaning away from family and friends, but he is not alone.  I have to keep telling myself that.  He is not the only one in that ship.  They are all away from their family and friends which is what will bring them closer and they will form new bonds that will carry them the rest of the way through this journey and beyond.

I know, logically, that what he is doing now will be of benefit to him for a lifetime.  Emotionally, he is still my sweet little boy and I miss him.

Welcome back home to all the traveling families. I feel funny walking around the house unpacking, seems like I was so driven for BC now i need to refocus on A school. Can I ask , why do they call them A schools? Just wondering. Jumanji- I too ordered my DVD this morning when we got back ! I knew there was something only available on PIR day but couldn't remember what it was - the Keel book ! Oh well.

Have a good day ladies.
