OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Friends,

This scripture is so appropriate for the Battlestations that your SRs will be going through soon.  Perhaps you can share it with your SR in a letter now.

       "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

        I have summoned you by name;  you are mine.

        When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

        and when you pass through the rivers,

        they will not sweep over you.

        When you walk through the fire,

        you will not be burned; the flames

        will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord,

        your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

                                                      Isaiah 43:1b-3a

HI everyone, I hope you are having a great day. My daughter is home so we went in the national forest for a hike today with my grand baby. I can't believe is is turning a year old on Thursday <3 Growing way too fast :)

Doesn't it just warm your heart to see your recruit in a picture? I wish everyone would get to see that :)

CatMom509 - Thank you - I've read elsewhere on here and on the fb page about how life can be, well, a bit more interesting than usual if the RDC's find out it's a recruit's birthday, so yes, I'll be careful... I just wanted to do something for my girl... It's her 18th, she's away from her twin sister, and - let's face it - RTC is no picnic...
