Just drop my son off for boot camp. I had no idea it was going to be this hard to let go. I think a big piece of my heart stayed with him! I cannot control my emotions right now. Praying these few months go by fast and can wait for Graduation in Great Lakes in Sept!

understand how you feel, dropped mine off yesterday at recruiters office he said see you at boot camp graduation had to leave rather quickly as the tears started flowing. I am here if you need me.

Awwww thanks! I will say that we are on week 3 and things are better. I think after talking to my SR on Saturday and knowing that he was excited and happy how can I not be? Always here for you as well my Navy Sister! Prayers for your Sailor and Family

He will start to talk "military" real soon - in short sentences, one word replies, assuming you know what all those Navy terms mean. His voice changes too - very clipped, very precise.  OMG - wait until you see him in person - won't recognize him - tears of pride and happiness.

Glad you are doing better, my son was so excited when he left I kept the tears in till he left as I did not want him to feel any guilt. I have to say the more I grieve the better I feel and might as well get it out now.  Called last night at midnight spoke for a minute or so and said talk to you at the end of the month. Any thing you learn share with me and I shall as well. Thinking of you Navy sister 2. I will sleep good tonight

My son just arrived in Great Lakes on Monday around 10:00pm. I got that scripted phone call at 11:30pm (PST), which would have been 1:30am there in Great Lakes. He sounded subdued. I'm sure he was tired, and he didn't have time to say much else than "I'm here. I'm fine. You'll get a letter next week. I should be able to call in 3 wks." and finally "I love you, Mom" and the tears flowed!! I miss him and can't wait for any letter and any call. I hope this starts to feel better soon because I am a train wreck. (Yes, I am also proud of him. I am a proud train wreck).

WebbiesMom, hang in there...Our son left yesterday and it has been so hard. We both keep wondering what and how he's doing. The 'call' last night was so hard...you just wonder what is really going through their minds. Stay strong...I'm praying this time passes quickly!

Thanks! This is a nice site. I don't feel so all alone. I know this is what he wants, and he is (hopefully) happy that he finally on the path to his dream, but sheesh, I NEVER in a million years thought it would be this hard to let him go. I thought I would shed a tear or two, but I have been a mess since Sunday when we left him at the hotel (the night before his final physical and flight).

Dont know yet what division or where he will be stationed lemon plant said  might be in wrong graduation group. Recruiter said he will graduate approx. end of August don't have form letter yet and waiting for box. But realistically our feelings are the same no matter what grad. group as I see it. So stay in touch o.k. I am here for you navy sister. I dropped mine off Monday thought I would be done crying but nope just keeps coming. I pray the navy takes good care of our boys and gals.

The recruiter is very mistaken if he is indicating the end of August for PIR when your Recruit arrived on 07/21/2014 or maybe the 22nd. The earliest PIR could be is 09/12/2014 if he is in a Push Division. Most of those arriving this week will have PIR on 09/19/2014.

Today was the day that we received our son's box of goodies (his clothes, his shoes, his phone) but was so saddened to not see a form letter.  Never in my life have I wanted to see a form letter so badly.  I would love to know where to write him and send him cards.  I dropped him off at the hotel and said "goodbye" a week ago today.  Any suggestions on what to do to get an address for him?

The Form Letter arrives an average of 10 days after the recruit arrives at the RTC. See . Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

I received my sons personal belongings today, so form letter will be arriving shortly am I right?
