We Stitch Love is a program where we create pillowcases and other handmade items for our deployed military.

Our goal is to help these heroes have a little bit of ‘home’ while they are away from home. We are helping them with sweet dreams when they take a break.

A cooperative effort and one of the many things we volunteers do through Molly’s Adopt a Sailor. We send to MAS monthly adoption and to the hospitals for Special Hugs http://www.navyformoms.com/group/mollysadoptasailorproject/forum/to...

Email any questions, information or suggestions to  westitchlove@mollysadoptasailor.com

Pillowcases can be sewn together or premade cases can be decorated with paint or tie dyed. There are several different ways to make a premade case special if you don’t sew. As long as there is love inserted through effort, they are stitched with love!

A standard size pillow is 20”x26”. Pillowcases should be at least 22”x28” or longer. The body of the pillowcase should have at least one side that is soft to sleep on and without seams where their head will rest. There are different ways to sew a pillowcase. Here are a couple different ways.

Always prewash fabric and premade cases to remove sizing and shrinkage. (Adding a little vinegar helps to soften the fabric and set the dyes)

A different version is to cut the body 24”x44” and use an 8”x44” band. Sew band to body, press seam towards band top. Stitch side and bottom of body, zigzag edges so they don’t fray. Turn inside out, press and top stitch band seam. Turn down ¼” and press, fold over a 1” hem and stitch.

Please add labels to your boxes when shipping

Be sure and post pictures of your completed pillowcases and of any sewing parties.

That would be great Dee! I can throw in a couple with my care packages. Just let me know how many you are sending. I have some plain white cases if you would like me to send you some?

Dee - If you don't have 31, let me know....I can make a few more this weekend.

Saw 26 of 31 promised on Facebook.  Don't know about the last 5.

Thanks Dee! Thanks Marianne!  Thanks everyone else !!!!!!!

Dee--send me a message.  I think I have at least a dozen white pillowcases if you would like me to mail to you.  Carol

If I remember correctly his is a team of 30 and I made a special one for my warrior and then one for his wife.  When he deploys I also send her something every time I send him something.  He loves turtles and she loves dolphins so I tie-dyed them all over the pillowcases so I just pull those 2 out.  Once I get home from work I can check my count and let you know.  Tks.

Have we gotten the last "5" covered?

A big "thank you" to all those that helpws with the pillowcase for our July 2014 adoption.  I know it is a lot of work and several of you do "every" month - your willingness to do this is deeply appreciated.

I will be back out on the look out for pillowcases so I can start tie-dying again.

A Mom on Facebook responded that she would 'sneak in the last 5' in her box.  So as far as I know, we are all set.

Sending you 24 white pillowcases.  Carol

T/U Carol - that's awesome.

My heart skipped a beat today while at the post office.  I had a package waiting for me and when I saw it was a priority box I thought one of my boxes came back.  But it was your box Carol - thanks for the pillowcases they have arrived!

Thanks Marianne - too many places to look for tracking.

I need to apologize to you ladies! I had posted replies about the last 31 pillowcases from my phone and never checked to see that they posted. They didn't. (I'll only post from by laptop or make sure they post from my phone from now on) Thank God that the comments went right along with what were being shared! You ladies ROCK and I appreciate all of your hard work!

I do have some white pillowcases that I can send and some fabric as well.
