Please, please remember before you post: our sons are part of a Special Operations community, even while in training, and it is vitally important to form the habit of not divulging any information that could possibly compromise the safety of any of their members. This would especially apply to names, dates, places, procedures, etc. You might like to read the "Discussion Forum" titled "OPSEC" for some guidance. If you are still in doubt, please ask one of our members for their opinion by private message before you post. We are here to help each other, but we must be careful at all times.

We can't give an exact time here, but I would expect in the daytime.

One more question, what time does the pinning usually take place?

Thanks ladies for the kind words of encouragement and information.  He did text last night for addresses to send invitations.  They are allowed 5 invites with unlimited guests.   Regarding the parent dinner the night before - Is there a maximum number of guests that are allowed to the parent's dinner?   Both sound somewhat formal with appropriate dress required.

Hi Kim - congratulations to your son .its quite an accomplishment .
It seems so much longer than 18 mths since our eldest sailor graduated Swcc. It wasn't as rigid as PIR had been . Our daughter came with us ,and another son was in LA so came up with a couple of friends . We had quite the crowd .his GF ,now his wife ,was also there .
For the commanders dinner just our daughter came with us ,dresses suits and ties were worn .they put on a really nice dinner with instructors and their families . It was great to put faces to names we had heard .
We had a beautiful hot ,sunny day for early January for the graduation. You were invited to get as close as you respectfully could,as your W was pinned . Then soft drinks and sandwiches after . We went into Old town, Coronado to.a favorite Mexican restaurant of theirs :)
Had just attended youngest sailors FMTB at camp le Juene this May . So very different to a Navy graduation .
Good luck to you and enjoy !

Hi Kim,
My son graduated in January. The Navy does send out an invitation. There will be a parents dinner the night before. We brought our other 2 sons to the ceremony, but not the dinner. The dinner is very nice and I think the grandparents would like that. Everyone has to be accounted for in advance of both events and photo ID is required at the gate. When you receive your formal invitation, there will be an RSVP email for you to reply to. I don't recall a limit being put on how many can attend. I saw families that filled a whole table.
Congratulations to your son and enjoy the ceremony!

Can anyone tell me about the "graduation" ceremony for swcc?  Does the navy send out the information to parents?  Do we rely on our son to give us the information?  We have a date but I am wondering who can be invited, is there a limit to the number of people who can come, and when we will receive details about this?  Would love to have the grandparents come but not sure we should book airfare for them yet, etc.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!
