DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

JUST GOT A PHONE CALL AS WELL! SHIP 13, DIV 277 KEEP YOUR PHONES CLOSE THEY ARE CALLING!!

this is my second phone call from my fiancé, he also called on saturday last week as well! both calls were about 25 minutes! my fiancé sounded so much better this week because last week he cried right when i picked up the phone! i also asked him how phone calls work and he basically said it really depends on how their division is doing. He told me they were about to get this weeks phone call taken away cause they weren't doing so well but thank goodness they didn't! He said time seems like its going by fast (i wish it did for me -.-) but they are all still having a hard time getting it together! But he thinks they will eventually get it together soon! Hope everyone else gets phone calls too! be on the look out and keep your phones close (:

Just got my call from my son in Ship 13/ div 278!  I was so happy to see that 847 area code on the caller ID.  He promises to write this weekend....he is not a writer, and I laughed when he thought that he might need more than the 20 stamps I was tucking into his wallet!  Still I wait for the mail each day HOPING for a letter! LOL  Thank God for the calls!

smallfutures:  Bootcamp is emotionally up and down, so you will find that some letters may be positive/some may be negative.  Hang in there...it gets better.

alexlara:  Hope you get a call or letter soon!
