Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 271 and 272

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Did anyone get calls this weekend from 03 /272

No call from 03/272 for me :(  So disappointing.

Just got off the phone with my Recruit...so be ready for a call 03/272.  I love hearing from him and hearing his voice.  He is such a good kid....even sung happy birthday to his brother.  He sounds really good and seems to be adjusting well to Boot Camp life!  Happy Phone Calls!

I got a call this evening at 8:29 EST from my son 03/272. This is the second call he has made home (1st one last Sat). He had to have his wisdom teeth pulled. He is 22 and had braces. He had 2 the orthodontist did not pull because he had room for them but the Navy wanted them out I guess... He has also developed a sinus infection/cough, but feeling better today. He was out for 4 days. He said he has one test to make up tomorrow, but so far they have not informed him that this will delay his PIR. Can he miss 4 days and still graduate with his division? He said there has been a number of them sick with this or that. He sounded good attitude wise, but still has a cough. Ugh!!! Was hoping the crud would stay out of their division!!!

My son did not get sick until after his wisdom teeth were pulled. I never thought about them pulling them since he was older and had braces, etc... Wish we would have had that done before he left!!! My guess is between the stress of all the changes, then the stress of having teeth pulled, his resisitance was down and then really got sick. Hoping my son and all the others are feeling much better this week..

Same with my son, he had to take his wisdom teeth out too :( and out a few days and missed a test. But talking to him last week he seemed fine and still on for graduation for the 29th. I was surprised but excited that they are allowed to call as often as they do. I was expecting not to talk to him until graduation, as other friends I have could not talk to their sons until graduation in other branches.

Ahh yes my son had the crud too.  He said he had been a lot worse and is actually feeling better now.

Hi Navy Moms,

My son is 271 div. going to SC right after PIR for school.  It's been hard missing him but I know he is making his own choices and I am proud of him.

Best wishes to all us Navy Mommas. Wish I could go to PIR but it's soo far away and he wont have much of a break before leaving. I heard they broadcast it on this site? Has anyone been able to watch it before?

I watched the PIR a couple of Friday's ago online just so I could understand what it was. The feed and sound was very good online and certainly next best thing to being there. I would be happy to give your son a hug from his Mama!!!

Does anyone know how long A school is for an AO? Also how long is phase1? My daughter said I can not visit during phase 1 but after that  she wants me to plan a trip. One more question..Does she still fly out the same day or will she get extra time due to the holiday?Thank you all!

Alison:  She most likely will fly out Saturday, but it is possible it will be on Sunday, so book your travel accordingly.  Not likely that those flying out will leave on Labor Day because of crowded flights.

Here is info on AO School:

http://www.navycs.com/navy-jobs/aviation-ordnanceman.html

They normally phase up within a couple or 3 weeks....your daughter will get more info on this when she goes through INDOC upon arrival on the base.

Are any of the Arizona moms going to be at the Macayos luncheon tomorrow at 12? My son said he had a few Arizona guys and girls in his Division. I'm excited to meet new Navy Moms.
