Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

MaVik94,

Your SR probably wants her cel phone, cell phone charger, laptop, ac adapter, make-up, favorite snacks from your area?  Write her and ask her to provide you with a list of essential stuff you can bring.  If too much, you will have to ship to her.  She needs to be picky because if she ends up on a ship after A school, she won't have alot of room~~

Hi diannep,
Thanks so much for the information. I will take your advice. If we cannot get the pass,we will definitely use Sarges shuttle.
Comment by diannep on July 27, 2014 at 8:15pm

...meant to add that you don't need the gate pass if you take a shuttle.  Also, you cannot walk from Navy Lodge to PIR....no sidewalks, busy traffic.  The shuttle will work!

Comment by diannep on July 27, 2014 at 8:14pm

Victorsmom:  If by chance you don't get the password in time (you can ask your sailor during the I'm a Sailor call), you can call Sarge and use his shuttle to/from PIR:  847 212 0246

Just $3/pp each way!

Hi CatMom509, yes I put the password all in caps. It did not work. I have a letter ready to send out tomorrow. My hope is I get his response back before we leave for PIR.
