Please, please remember before you post: our sons are part of a Special Operations community, even while in training, and it is vitally important to form the habit of not divulging any information that could possibly compromise the safety of any of their members. This would especially apply to names, dates, places, procedures, etc. You might like to read the "Discussion Forum" titled "OPSEC" for some guidance. If you are still in doubt, please ask one of our members for their opinion by private message before you post. We are here to help each other, but we must be careful at all times.

Hi Navy_gf,  When we went out to our son's SWCC pinning ceremony 3yrs ago we stayed at the Old Town Inn (www.oldtown-inn.com) the rates were very reasonable & the rooms were large & comfortable and the base was only a 20 minute drive from there.  The ceremony has changed a bit in 3yrs from what I have read here so maybe someone who has been recently can help with that.   Best of luck to your Sailor throughout BCT!

Kim, my son will also be pinned. Zephyr mom thanks for the info when I messaged you. I should have thanked you earlier.

Thanks!  He is very excited about this and we think it will fit him well.  Zephyr mom - has your son finished his training there yet?

That's great news, Kim! SOCM is another BIG challenge! My son has been at Fort Bragg since January, he loves it!

We are getting very excited for our trip!  We haven't seen our son since Christmas.  He found out that he will be heading to SOCM training at Ft. Bragg.  We are so excited and proud of him.

Hi, My son just started boot camp and we received his letter and box with his PIR date of 9/26.  Any helpful hints for travel and or attending the ceremony?  We will be bringing his 13 year old sister.  Thanks!

We got there at 10am. We had choice seating and my son was able to show us some of his equipment before the ceremony. My husband had a 10 minute walk from the designated parking area. He suggests you bring bottled water, since it will be hot! We got great photos and videos and it is a wonderful memory!

Thanks for all of the great info.  This will be very helpful!  How early did you arrive to get a good seat and was the parking far away?  Things are starting to come together as he had to turn in his final guest list today.

Our pinning was at 11am. Allow yourself extra time to get a good seat and also for parking. My husband dropped me off and parked so I wouldn't have to walk, which was nice. I was told there was a shuttle, but I was too anxious to get involved with that.
The parent dinner is Business casual. All the military are in their uniforms so it seems dressy but, they are their dress khakis, you will see them in formal dress at the pinning. My husband wore dockers with a dress shirt to the parent dinner and a nice summer dress or dress pants and blouse should be fine. Same for the pinning, dress for warm weather and nice but, not too formal. I don't recall any written invite to parents dinner and didn't bring my other 2 sons but I think they probably could have gone. I saw people who filled a table of 10 with family. I don't think I would bring anyone outside of the family except if there were a special girl for your son. Hope this helps.
