Well, she's there!  Finished checking in today & explored Catania a bit.  Looks beautiful from the pics she sent.

Jboysmom, enjoy your visit! I noticed when our daughter was there she had a lot of photos on her camera/ computer/fb but she didn't have any printed. We went to Italy 2 times, the first to Rome and Florence so she could join us and the second to Venice and then down to Sicily again she was with us. I took a ton of pictures and when we came home had them printed and put into books for her. She has been in VA since last November and I can't tell you how many times she has thanked me for creating a photo memory for her. When we go down to VA it's nice to re-visit the places we traveled together.

My son moved to Sigonella a year and half ago.  He's there with his wife and our 2 granddaughters.  I lurk on this group every now and then.  Wish I had more time to be more active on the group, but my job keeps me away from being able to be on the NavyMoms site.  I was on the site 24/7 during the time when he was in boot camp, but that was 6 years ago.  He spent 3 years on the Wasp and is now in Italy for 3 years.  I'm excited to say that he and his family will be visiting us here in a few days.  I can't wait!  My husband and I plan to take a trip to visit them in Italy next summer.  We've been saving up for over a year now and hope to have enough to spend a month over there when we visit.  Since Italy is only about the size of Arkansas, we should be able to do a lot of traveling and get to see lots of sites while there.  I'll try to be better about getting on this group so that we can all support each other.

Good morning ladies,

My sailor left Sig last October and is now on the Ford. Please look back through the wall and you will find a lot of useful hints and suggestions as well as a plethora of information on many subjects and questions you might have.

Our sailors in Sig don't say too much about activities, I believe they are cautioned not to because of the sensitivity of the area and I understood that. So hang in there, every once in a while you will get a photo of them having fun!

The other thing I would like to say is: make plans to visit, don't put it off, you will be so glad you did.

Colleen- I agree there are a few who lurk like me but don't post often.  My son is over there too but he's not the best fount on info. stuff takes about 3 weeks to get to Sig. but it can take longer.  He's the youngest (found that out at the Bee ball) and seems to get the "boring" jobs.  He's been standing watch a lot lately and he'll get to work a desk job too.  He's not happy about that and I agree- He does better when he is physically working and working HARD!!  You can also PM me if you want.

Colleen, My son is still in Sigonella, but he just got his orders to come home!  We will be so happy to have him back in the US. He doesn't leave until August. It is easier for me to read the messages through my email, and I don't get on the website much anymore unless I have a new question or am searching for information. You could private message me, and I could give you my email address if you'd like.
