Hello ladies!  there is a facebook page for the USS Texas, once you join the ombudsman will welcome you.  It was funny last night, Sailor son said he didn't have a contact phone number for the boat for when he gets there, so I sent her a facebook message and she gave me the phone number. He said "how in the world did you get that?'"  So many things us moms know about that they don't!!!  Yes ProudNavyMom, I hug mine whenever I see him pretty much, and he hugs me back-it's so wonderful!  And yes, I too had to share him this weekend-he stayed with his brother friday and saturday nights but they both came home for dinner.  Last night we had all 3 kids plus son in law for dinner-it was just awesome!  It is hard to share him but I know I have to.  Just so wonderful to have him home, even for a short time. :)

Yes, all of his Navy classes transferred including the ones he has been taking on-line. He needs to pick up some English classes at the JC before transferring to UConn. Fortunately, the JC has an agreement with the University.

Terri, I think that he can also get college credit for some of the classes he took in the Navy. At least our governor was pushing for that - one of the few good things he's tried to do!

ProudNavyMom - is it hot racking? According to the military website, the USS Texas has a crew of 130. I too am going to have to remind my son to put me on the ombudsman list. Enjoy your son while he's home!

JTFsubmom, so happy for you to finally hear where your son is going! Washington State is beautiful. I've never been to Bangor though.  I bet it is as beautiful.  Best to him and yours!

Pat L, thank you! I watched Submarine: Hidden Hunter the night before he came home and learned some about the Virginia class subs, or as much as they would share on a Netflix movie. hahaha they go underway for 6 months or longer.  I pray they all do well with that long underway.

BunkerQB thank you for the info!!!!! My Sailor is home now and I keep reminding him to please make sure I get on the ombudsman list and he keeps saying he will email me, and I keep saying, okay, pls put me on the list!!!! HAHAHAHA Repetition works. I want to make sure I get on it!

Are you sure there are only 130 on the USS Texas? That means they will not need to hotxxxx bunkbeds! I can't remember the name for when two sleep per bunk on different shifts. Share bunks.  hot jump?

I am so happy he is home!!!

Kevsmom & mrsb, I got my first five days with him, now he's hanging with his fiance and friends and comes home for dinner!! HAHAHAHA I want him all to myself but was ready for it though, it hurt a bit at first but I am OK with sharing him now. Nah, not really hahahaha

As long as he sleeps and eats at home this is one happy momma!!!! :) we take what we can right? ahhhhhh

My girls and I are so happy to see him and be with him!!!

Oh BunkerQB, I haven't been on N4Ms in a while but just happen to open the email with your post.  Again, thank you for the info. I have a better reason to ask my son to add me to the ombudsman list, in case there is a secure FB page she can add me to.

I now have 266 N4Ms emails waiting on me!!! Arggghhh so overwhelmed! :)  And I don't want to erase any of them bc there is always so much to learn from each one!!!

I have pics to share too.  He looks so good in his Navy whites. OK, I'm rambling, just excited!!!! HAHAHA

I need to get on the Hawaii page so I can learn more about Pearl and the USS Texas.

We have him till the 11th but I don't want to think about that day yet!  Just the fun we are having now visiting family and having welcome dinners for him.

His hugs are so meaningful and longer than before.  I know he missed me ;) They make me so happy.  My heart is full.

God bless all our boys and all in our military and families!

Terri, congrats to your son.

He was ET NAV on the boat so he is getting an Electrical Engineering degree. Many of the courses he had with the Navy apply to this degree.
