ProudNavyMom and Mrsb, love the pics.  That is funny how we think we are shrinking and everyone asks if they are still growing.

Here you go Cath :-)

http://www.watermelon.org/carvings/Watermelon-Submarine-49.aspx

My husband and I made one but it didn't turn out quite like that one...lol We couldn't find a nice oblong style watermelon so we settled for a fat roundish one instead. We bought two just in case and yep needless to say that was a good idea. My husband is a little on the strong side and when he went to make the first slice the top flew off haphazardly! I stood there cracking up! Anyway it brings back good memories and I guess I could share the one we made if you really want me too....my husband says it looked more like a little two man submersible (and he's right it did :-o )

Kevsmom thanks!!  I grin like that every time I hug my Sailor, which is multiple times a day!!  My son is picking up his buddy on friday to spend the weekend with us and attend our Aloha party. Wish you and your husband could come but it's a long drive for you. :(  Either my son is still growing or I'm shrinking, I look really short in that pic!

Shea:  It's a little early for me to be assuming that my grandson will be stationed in Hawaii, but that is his first choice.  He just has to keep up the good grades!  When he does get to Hawaii, I will be needing the Facebook page for getting BD cakes, etc to them.  That is good information to have.  Thank you.  bobbiebrune@yahoo.com

Terri congrats to you and your family!  ProudNavyMom#1 my son is still "hot racking" and he's been on his boat for over a year.   He says that the only ones that don't are the guys with higher rank and those who work in the galley (he says they have "racks" close the the galley) and of course the officers.  It sounds like that's the norm.  He says they all carry Fabreeze in thier sea bags to keep things fresh!  It really cracks me up when he tells his stories of life on the sub!

Oh and attention all  moms with son's stationed in Hawaii.  I've got a connection through a Facebook page for parents of kids station there for getting birthday cakes or cookies to them.  Message me and I'll hook you up!
