Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Herding Cats--- lol Thats FUNNY! Well good luck, and I sure hope you have them home for Thanksgiving. Just about everyone I know who went in the Navy LOVED it. I hope and pray my guy stays in and graduates!

JTD's Mom.  My husband and I never imagined any of them would be in the Navy much less all three.  My husband was in for 4 years and his Dad is retired Navy.  The down side is trying to get everyone together.  We're trying for Thanksgiving since one son will between Greece and Japan, but it's like herding cats.  We might be able to get 2 of them.  I'll take whatever I can get.

Hi Prdnvymomx2.  Any news from your son?  How long has your other son been in?  My other two both graduated in Nov 2012.  One on 11/9 and the other 11/30

Mary123sons I've heard from my fiancé twice already. he called two weeks ago on saturday and this past saturday as well. I've also received 7 letters from him! But so far he said they are doing okay but having a hard time getting it together. My fiancé is 26 so he's a little older than most of the guys there so i can tell he was a little irritated with how everything is going but i told him that he needs to remember that some of the guys are just coming out of high school and that he needs to just be patient with them. But he said he has made a lot of friends already. he told me they started with 91 recruits and went down to 88 due to people being sick or quitting but they are back to 90 again because they added more people! Hope you hear from your son soon! i will message you my fiancé name and you are welcome to ask your son if they know each other and i will do the same as well! (:

Hi prdnvymomx2! how is your son doing so far?! i will also message you my fiancé name as well (:
