Why not a stuffed whatever they call it that looks like your sailor?  Like the ones people use to prop up when driving on car pool lanes. You can dress him up with sailor outfit, hat and all.

So Awesome Woodchuck mom! You must be so proud and relieved :) My son is just starting his journey with A school next week and is already so anxious about the work. Congrats to you and your sailor!

Love your Flat Sailor B'sNukeMom! We made a Flat J******* for when our son left for BC. We went camping right after he left and couldn't help but take him along. we even took him to the 4th of July parade he used to march in and visited the band and photo-bombed the parade route. It really helped us feel better about him being gone. And LOTS of people asked us about it which really made us so proud of him too. We have taken him to a few other venues and we have been printing them and sending them to him in BC. I've been writing an adventure story to go along with the photos just to make it crazy and silly. I'm still waiting to hear back from my son after he received his first page of his adventure.

Jujusmom...your idea is FAB too!

J's/S'smom, that has happened to me a couple times! All of a sudden I quit getting messages and find out it stopped following. grrrr The last time I didn't have time to find out what I missed. Now I watch more closely.

Eric's Mom - glad everything cleared for your son....now the journey begins!  Make sure you look through the discussions above - lots of valuable info.....

NancyJo - I remember my kids doing that one year in school for Back-to-School night!  When we came in they were all "sitting" in their chairs - it was so cute.  I think it was in 2nd grade!

Well I'm gonna share another one!

B'sNukeMom - I love this idea.  My son is in the air as I'm writing this on his way to SC for A school.  He was delayed after PIR, but it all cleared now.  I think my son would get a kick out of this idea and will start taking him wherever we go.  Thanks for sharing this.  : )

LOL I love the flat sailors!! When we moved from Alabama we left some really good friends. One little guy had a class project where they were all traced on butcher paper in life size, then drew themselves on that cutout. Then they mailed it to us with the idea we should mail it on and see how many places he could go before the school year was ended. It was great!  I just love, jujusmom, that you made those 2 little guys to go with you everywhere.

jujusmom - love your "Flat Future Sailors" - very cute!  We had so much fun on vacation and we made a lot of new friends who would ask about our sailor.  It was definitely a fun way to include our sailor.
