M's mom....We all live and learn.  I feel that our children are most valuble, so I never like to endanger them.  After the Navy has done their news release on shipe out is a safe time to mention them here.

Paymaster:  Sorry.  I  didn't write the ship's name, so I thought it was acceptably vague.  Some here have asked if anyone has a LO on a certain ship.  I assume that's OK to ask about a particular ship after it's out to sea?

M's ....you may want to delete your message as we never put actual dates of departures on our post. From an old hand.

Candio box was a huge success! Got a 45 minute call from our son last. Can't wait for graduation, just 3 short weeks away!

I went to this website: https://ombudsmanregistry.org/?m=contactombudsman and sent a message.  In a short time, I was contacted by the ombudsman for the ship my daughter is assigned to.  She explained that my daughter will be given an email address connected to the ship and can provide the contact information to the ombudsman.  The gal was very nice and gave me both her work phone number and personal phone number.

Thanks Lisbeth! So much change ahead. Candio week is next week--finally! Hopefully, when we get to talk to our son, he'll be able to answer some of our many questions.

marzidoatz,  My son will be leaving on his first long cruise soon also, so I also wonder how we get on the ship's ombudsman's list.  My son says he doesn't know yet.  How about it cruise veteran Moms?    Thanks!

Do I understand this right?  I look up the ship information and then send a message to the email address listed for the ombudsman to request updates?  Or does my daughter provide the information to the ombudsman?  Thanks in advance - Mary

Thanks Anna for your response, too. I really appreciate it. It will all be great for his career, but some tough years.

Thanks Lisbeth. Had no idea how it worked. Certainly going to take some getting used to. We live in Gainesville Fl, which is where UF is, that he attended, so this will be our first experience with him being gone. Sounds like the boomer will give him more time off. What does the one crew that's not on the sub do for the 3 mos the other sub is out?
