OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Friends,

Your SRs are going into the "radio silence" mode where pretty much the only contact you will have is their weekly letters.  They are entering the intense and busy part of their training.  They will be tested on their barracks, uniforms, marching, and how well they finally pull together.  They can earn reward flags to hold proudly in front of their divisions at PIR.  At the end and right before they start going into Battlestations, they may be allowed a call if they are doing well as a division.  This is in addition to their "I'm a Sailor" call, so rest easy everyone, this phase is part of the home stretch!!  Keep writing those letters!!

No phone call here either, unless he called his GF ( which is fine!) but it is too late to check.

I got my call. Ship 14 Div 274 It came during church. My phone was not on silent, just in case my SR called. Anyway I just jumped up during service and said it's ---!! Everyone at church was excited though. He got to talk to me and his daddy, sister and brother. He sounded so much better. He is sick that sore throat thing probably from the vaccinations. He was able to talk for about 30 minutes. they earned a flag. Yay! :) He said the letters we send are what gets him through the day. I told him I would continue to write everyday. Praying that many others have received and will receive calls. :)

Diannep...my daughter works closely with the RDCs and said this was their last scheduled call until then, the rest have to be earned. The recruits have also been told the same as well. I pray she's not right but she's been spot on so far.

Diannep they are saying this is more then likely their last call till you get the "I'm a sailor" call they are getting into more intense training now
Comment by diannep on July 30, 2014 at 9:50pm

Although they may say they won't be able to call again, chances are they will be able to unless they really "mess up" something.  They know the calls encourage the SRs and if they are doing well, they want to reward them.  So fingers crossed that more will come in!

Sydney:  I'm confused over what you said about BattleStations.  They won't be for quite a while for this group....actually starting the Thurs a week before PIR week most likely.  So I feel sure there will be more phone calls before then!  At least one, we hope!

Comment by NavyMomOfMCT on July 30, 2014 at 9:17pm

So far I have received 2 phone calls and 2 letters. I'm pretty sure that he may call his gfriend if he is only allowed 1 call. She would tell me that he called which is fine. Both calls came on a Saturday around the same time of day :) .. he sounds so very happy and excited to be on this new adventure and wonderful career! Thank you to my son, your sons and daughters and all those who have served!!! Thank you Mom's and Dad's! We got great kids :) doing great things!!

Comment by Sydney(: on July 30, 2014 at 8:47pm

RNnavymom: That is kinda depressing, not gonna lie, but i am so thankful that i was able to hear from him one last time. I feel so blessed that he called me all 3 times. I feel horrible for his momma though. She is a nurse and was working when the phone call came in, so she missed the chance to get to talk to him a last time before all the stuff with battle stations. If i could trade places with her, i would in a heartbeat. It makes me feel so terrible that she wasn't able to talk to her own son :/ he called me the last time also, and so she didnt get any call time from him this last saturday. i kinda feel selfish for getting most of his call time... I am hoping that he writes her as much as he can, because she is really missing him a lot. :( Hopefully he gets rewarded a call soon, and if he does, i hope she is the first one that he calls!!

A BIG thank you for the birdie that gave us a heads up on the phone call. I received a call from son who is div 273. He said this will be last call until last week of bootcamp unless they receive a reward. He sounded great :)
