I have no idea if I am doing this right or not but here I go. My son is leaving for boot camp on 8/5/14. I have no idea what to expect. My heart is breaking and i feel so alone. I feel like I am being silly for being so emotional but it is going to be so hard.

I am so tired of people thinking I am over reacting. "it's part of life", "It's not like you won't see him again", "He's 18 for petes sake". I know all these things and want him to go and start this journey but it does not make it EASY!  I am a mess but I know in time it will become easier but will always miss him.

Thanks again and keep me up to speed with your Sailor. Good Luck time is approaching to soon.

Good Luck to all of you & your sailors who are leaving tomorrow (8/5).  Get some sleep tonight - it will be a long, emotional day tomorrow.

All of those feelings are normal!  Mine just left on July 29th.  Make sure you join the boot camp moms group and also look for the group for people leaving in August and join that group.  There is a-lot of helpful information and people on this website.  We are here for you, cause we are all going through the same things!

Four more days & I am running ragged. We have a couple of going away parties here in the next couple days. Between work & all the baking & cooking I have done I have not had much time to think about it (except at night trying to sleep). My son has been doing things with friends so I haven't seen him much the last few days. I know this weekend will go fast but I will treasure every moments. Boy I love that kid. So very proud.

;) Big Hugs Mama!   Yep, it's gotta be LOVE!! :)

Hi Goofytroll, Thinking of you!!

Thanks goofytroll. We are talking our son to recruiter the day before & are staying at the same hotel where he will be staying until the next day when he leaves for MEPS. We will go there also to watch him swear in. That will be the sadest and proudest day of my life thus far I am sure. It will be hard to let go but I know I have no choice. Good luck to you and your family. I am fortunate that my daughter is going to school close by.

hello all!!

my son has been in the navy for 3 years now and is on a sub.  what you all are feeling is ok. when my son left I didn't start crying till I hit home the day he left. I cleaned like crazy for the first two weeks!! I still get emotional!LOL   it is nice you all are supporting each other. that is what this site does.  have you each joined boot camp group?  it is full of info. there is a lot of support there too.  good luck to your sons and daughters!!  tell them thanks for serving our country!!

I can't stop cleaning! LOL. It keeps my mind off of his leaving. I do know (at least I think) it will get easier but that doesn't help right now. I feel like my heart is breaking.

Thank you jpsmom! I feel the same way when I am alone and nothing to do. I can't stop thinking about it. I worry about how he is feeling and how scary this is going to be. How hard it will be for him. I know how I will miss him but can't imagine how he is going to cope being in a strange place with new people and being hounded all the way through. I tell myself all the time to "cut the strings" too but it is not easy.

Hope you are well & remember you are not alone. I know it helps me to know I am not the only one feeling this way.

Oh Connors mom I can relate. Ours left on Tuesday and I keep wondering about how he is doing. Are they being mean to him, he has never been away from home or not even on a plane before. All these changes right away I hope he is handeling it ok. Is he sleeping ok. Is he eating... Yikes I could go on and on. So I have found myself very attached to this website this past week to read anything I can about what they so there and to have all of you who are in the same boat!

I know dobimom! I think about how scary & lonely that plane ride is going to be. I want to stay with him every inch of the way but I realize this is what I spent 18 years doing. Getting him ready for this. He is a good man. I am so proud of him for this. His strength is awesome. Now if I could just get some of that.
