For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi all - my nail lady is donating ALL of their magazines from the salon - starting with last week and going forward. So, every 2 weeks when they get new magazines in, she is having me come to their shop to get their 'older' ones. I feel very blessed by them doing this for me. Right now I have a stack about 2 foot tall of magazines. Of course it is mainly 'girly' magazines, but it includes, People, US, Star, In-style, Entertainment Weekly, OK and a few fashion magazines. I'm also making 600+ cookies for the start of football season for my son's Varsity football team, so I thought I'd make extras for this group as well (if anyone knows - can this group have homemade goodies?)

Pat - do you happen to know on the media rate - does it take longer to get there? I have never used media rate (just heard of it).
I figure I will just hold onto magazines going forward and always have a 'stash' for each months adoptees and supply a box of magazines. The ones I picked up last week are very current - only a month or less out - so they will be pretty current for these guys when they arrive.
I will also plan to make enough extra cookies to fill a large size priority box!

Yes, I think it does take a little longer for the box to arrive. Haven't used it myself but I know an adoption a while back wanted books and magazines and some moms used the media rate.

They will love the cookies! The temps are hovering in the 100s right now. As long as they aren't dipped in chocolate they will be fine!

NovaMom-the issues you have should be fine. Reader's Digest contains so many good articles that are often good to read any time. Recent magazines are appreciated by the crew!

HuskerFan-Wow! Those magazines will be so welcomed by any of our adoptees!
Also, I'm sure homemade cookies are fine for this group. I'll be in contact with the POC tonight and will double-check on that. -

So how does this work? Do I send the items to the ship directly or to a group? Can I load up on just one type of item like magazines and assume someone else will provide the rest? What kind of items are used to decorate teh bandanas? Fabric markers?

NovaMom, We welcome questions!! Yes you send items directly to the ship. If you request to join "MAS We Ship Love" then you will have access to the address. (We do it this way to provide a little security for our contact person.)
For the bandanas, someone else will have to answer that........cause I AIN'T crafty! LMAO!

NovaMom-You may send as much or as little as you like. If you want to load up on one thing or make a variety box, that is up to you. We all assemble boxes according to what works for us or what inspires us. This month the wish list is small but they are ready for what we send. Sometimes some of us share a bit about what we are sending. This month, the bandanas are one thing I hope we can cover for each crew member. I think fabric markers to decorate the bandanas are the best choice with this adoption.
Keep asking questions when you have them! We are thrilled you have joined us! -
