DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Congrats to all that received letters today.  What a rush of emotions!!!!  We didn't have one in the mail today.  I am hoping that by tomorrow or Friday, we will have the same excitement. I will even settle for a one line letter.  ;)

I did receive a letter today!  It was labeled "Letter 2" and I didn't get Letter 1.  Now I'm just being greedy.  But so nice to receive anything.  I hope everyone else is having good luck at the mailbox today!

And.....IT can be given to an entire division for one SR's mistake....when my son was there, one of his shipmates messed up.  Instead of that shipmate taking the punishment, the entire division had to do it, with the shipmate sitting and watching.  Needless to say, he was beside himself....crying by the end knowing his shipmates were none to pleased.  But my son felt bad for the guy....and I would imagine many others did too.  They want to stress to them that teamwork is vital for the Navy...and errors can cost an injury or life when in the Navy.

lovingmom:  Most likely on Sat. after PIR.  Occasionally they don't fly out until Sunday so we suggest that all families plan to stay until Sunday, just in case.  They won't know their flight schedules until right before PIR.

my son will be going to A school in Connecticut, does anyone know when he possibly might be flying out after PIR.
