DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

TNVolFanMom-Hello :) I hope that our SR's have met!  I just booked our flights and room. We are going to stay at the Ramada Inn. The price was reasonable enough. There is a shuttle back and forth for the ceremony as well. Austin is staying at GL for A school

Hi Heidic4  Our SR's are same ship and division.  Haven't booked flights yet for PIR, but I have booked our hotel.  Staying at the Navy Lodge.  : )

...he will have to open the envelope in front of the RDC but it helps if he can just say before that:  It's my rosary.

Comment by diannep on August 21, 2014 at 1:35pm

Heidic4:  I would imagine that your SR is allowed his rosary since he would be allowed a small Bible.  You may want to call RTC to ask:  847 688 2405

Also, make sure you don't mail it until your SR requests it or agrees to it.  Just so he knows what it is when the RDC says:  What's in THIS?

Brittanysmom:  No question on here is dumb!  Just remember that and post them all!

Comment by diannep on August 21, 2014 at 1:30pm

Heidic4:  YES!  Those staying in GL for A School will have Columbus Day off as well, so families of those future sailors, please be sure to book your returns later on Monday or even Tuesday since they should have Liberty on Columbus day until mid-evening!

Sorry, but those flying out most likely will leave on Sat. or Sun.  So I would suggest that those families book back late Sunday, just in case your sailor gets to leave on Sunday also.  They won't know their flight schedule until shortly before PIR.

Got my letter yesterday. She is ship 11 div 319. A school is in Great Lakes. She is IC. I don't understand a lot of the language so I apologize now for dumb questions. PIR 10/10/14

Also, does anyone know if I can mail my son his Rosary? He left it in the car when he went to MEPS and I still have it. Thanks!
