~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

chrismar66:  Absolutely those who are retired military should wear their uniforms if they like!  Many do that.  A few years back, those retired and in uniform/with ID got free entry into PIR.  Didn't have to be on a list...same with active duty in uniform.  But they changed that a couple of years ago so now everyone has to be on the list other than children 2 and under.

I got another call today also :)  (ship 14 div 310).  He sounded good....said it was great to receive letters and to send more. I feel much better after this phone call.  Can't wait for graduation!!

Just heard from my son again. He sounded a little more worn our than last week. Just kept telling him to stay strong and think about graduation.

Just heard from our J again. Second Saturday in a row. He said they got surprised with a phone call. He sounded like he has a cold. Other than that, he said it gets better with each day. He is loving the letters and cards. And wants more pictures. :) he also told me that he was the RPO in his division. (Religious Petty Officer). Making sure the recruits that would like to attend religious services know the times and dates. Helping usher at the chapel on Sundays. Attends meetings with the Chaplin. And other things. This really made my heart bean with pride. I'm so proud of him. :) come on Oct. 3rd!!!

I finally got my first letter written last Sunday. It made me laugh, made me proud, felt bad at times but he said " don't worry, I've got this mom =) " Said things are better now that P-days are over and he was happy that they got to go outside finally. Ship14/309

Good morning everyone. I'm really hoping for a letter or phone call this weekend. For those missing their recruits I may have a suggestion. If you call their cell phone you can hear their voice on their recorded message! It's what saved me when my oldest joined the AF and it's saving me with my youngest now! Also, as far as a retired military parent, are they allowed to wear their uniform to PIR?

Good morning evryone. I started working on my hotel door decoration for PIR. It helped to have my hands busy & made me smile while working on it. Very theaputic. My son is going to be happy when he sees it hanging on the door. I want it to make him feel as special as we all think he is.
