hello all!!
I got to Skype with my sailor!!!! it has been two months since I had talked to him. I hated to say bye. now I am here crying. it never gets easier to say. he is looking tired, but good.
The last airport trip earlier this month I told the ex we were staying until either he was on the plane or told us it was OK to leave. We stood on one side of the glass he on the other after he had gone through security. Small airport. Until he said he was going to the bath room and then they would be loading so we could go. held hands thru the glass for a moment and then we left.
CO-Twin my heart breaks for you can't even imagine how awful that must have been when he told you that :-( You are clearly still bothered by that moment and I'm so sorry. I hope you were able to make him understand it wasn't your choice.
LindaGirl don't worry I get it I was there and yes it was a difficult moment. I do appreciate your support as a mom who understands. I neglected to share this story with you all because I knew mrsb and ProudNavyMom#1 were getting ready to say their goodbyes too. I didn't want to share something that I knew would be upsetting. It's amazing how just reading someone else's experience can be just as hurtful especially when you can relate to it so well. Perhaps after she got on that plane she had time to reflect on what she said and regretted it. I know I went and sat with my husband and we stayed until our son's flight took off. We even stood at the window until we could see the last faint glimmer of the planes lights as it flew off into the night :-) You know every little bit counts!
Now I'm laughing even harder! I know it's not supposed to be funny but from a modern day perspective it is. How in the world did they even manage? That is amazing.
No, Ryan never did allow us to take in any uniform pictures while he was on leave. One of his friends came home after graduating MCRD in April. The Dad works with my husband and he told us that their son put on every single uniform and allowed the family to take pictures! I was so jealous!
I did get a few of Kevin in his Navy Service uniform when he was here in May but only because he already had it on for a visit to his past high school teachers.
Glad you were able to keep your head Kevsmom, never fails to amaze, how clueless people can be sometimes. Hope your were able to get the pics of your boys that you wanted; the Zouaves actually went into battle with those getups, if you can believe it.
I meant ZOUAVE! oops
